I use the router that TW gave me and I usually have four or five devices connected to it at any given time, but I have more than enough bandwidth when I use the 5G connection. I only had lag spike issues with MWO, since they moved the servers.

It has nothing to do with the modem TWC gives out. Hell, I replaced mine with a much better one (paying rental fee of 6 bucks a month for a 7 year old modem? hah no thanks) and the internet has been incredibly smooth.... in everything except MWO. I posted my tracerts in previous posts in this thread, and there has been no change. It's not MWO's fault, its how the servers are handling TWC which is the issue here.

Yes, I now use Pingzapper and I have not had ping higher than 110ms since.

So...are users of TWC pretty much boned? Is there something that can done about this? It's very frustrating.

Get PingZapper. $18 for half a year - which gives them plenty of time to fix the issue.

I need to get a screen shot of pingzapper's options page on an individual game so I can describe how I set mine up. One of the settings is the entry server location (where you are) the other setting is the exit server location. I use Chicago as my exit and i think central for my entry point since I'm in Kentucky. New York can be spotty sometimes since the MWO servers are on the west side of Canada but its better than not using pingzapper at all. I've also tried LA as the exit since its on the west coast but what I really need to do is figure out a way to run a trace route through the VPN tunnel. I Suppose I could add cmd.exe in there as a "game" and see if it will take the tunnel when I try to get to MWO.

I would avoid the US West Coast peer networks if possible, especially Palo Alto.

Interesting, excuse my ignorance. I did try setting Pingzapper to one of the LA servers over the weekend and MWO kept giving me "connection lost" errors every time I tried to log in.

Honestly, the ISP "monopolies" have been around for years now, I don't remember which administration de-regulated the Telcos and allowed this situation to happen, but it was years ago.

I need a VPN service so that I can actually play this game (me being a TWC user in Texas). Anyone know of any good, reliable VPN services?

Just paid for a month of Pingzapper. All I get is "Connection Error" when trying to log into MWO.

I use Pingzapper myself and I get the problem if I choose a server close to me. For MWO, use either a Chicago, or New York server ( US Central North, or US Eastern). The server you are choosing is the server where you are exiting the VPN tunnel. Also, make sure you check UDP.

No, it seems like some of your peer networks are throttling MWO traffic. I am a bit unhappy that I have to subscribe to a VPN to get good ping when I am already paying for a top-tier internet package.

Must have been something wrong this morning. Tried different servers and settings, but only got a connection error when logging into MWO. My ping through TWC hit the 300s again tonight, and Pingzapper actually worked this time. Not only did it not have the connection error, but I'm getting the lowest pings I ever had.

No, it didn't get resolved. It seemed to be better over the past week, not great, but better. Pings were in the 100-120 range. Last two nights, it's gone back to really bad. 300-600 pings.

please help us. Getting high pings in the evenings occasionally. The only fix is to try to reconnect to the game right away(which doesnt always work) or to get a VPN. Several people in CA and other states like Texas running into really high pings(like 600).

Read the blog link that was posted earlier in this thread, it will give you some perspective regarding the cause of this issue. It really seems to be political and we are being used as pawns.
