You SHOULD NOT be leading the charge, because everyone and their pen pal will see you from 2500M and shoot at you. You need to be the 2spooky4u Atlas, follow your team, and then EMERGE LIKE A CHAMPION at the right moment, and wreck the enemy that is obviously, completely caught off guard by your sudden emergence and scrambling to aim at you to return fire while simultaneously turning to flee from you horror inducing facewrecz smash powah.
this is pure gold
i always make the mistake of trying to lead the charge, like i feel expected to go out in front by pub teammates they look at u in your Atlas and wait for u to lumber out and get destroyed giving them time to flank or peek aboo snipes
and then i hate the Atlas
but those moments of just emerging at the right time in a Atlas out of nowhere, u can literally feel the enemies horror as u smash faces, those moments make it totally worth it

The Atlas may always be a chalenge against the other 100 tonners but it does have the ability to wait behind cover and step out when the time is right and do well. Also it is likely the Atlas will be getting some kind of improvments with all the discussion going on about it.
If the Atlas becomes the ultimate walking shield with improvments then fine it has a role. Just looking at the new Man o War says it needs some armor improvments also with so many excellent assaults and heavies running around.

Because you LIKE the atlas.
JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE WHO CARES IF IT'S OPTIMAL... IF IT'S TOP TIER.
God I'm so tired of hearing people go on and on about how "This mech sucks because it's totally outclassed by X."
Who the flying fet cares?! Just use what you like, and quit complaining. I swear I come to these forums and all I see is bitchmoangroanwhinecryrage.... there's so little positivity here. And I mean, sure, part of that comes from all the BS PGI's pulled over 3 years... but good lord, there has to be a smidge of good cheer left in these forums right?
I actually agree. I really enjoy my Mist Lynx mech so I think they are a good mechs and play them fairly often. Intellectually I know they are somewhat subpar but that doesn't stop me from doing well in them.

Yeah.. people should play the game for fun, too.
Though it might be more fun when you win. But still.

The KIng Crab I received has 6! arm mounted ballistic hard points ... 2 energy, 2 missile and an AMS. One of the other KIng crabs appears to have 2 ballistic, 4 energy and 4 missile. The frontal profile on a King Crab looks to be a bit smaller than an Atlas ... hard to say for sure since it might be lower and wider. Otherwise they start off with basically the same armor and structure.
The KIng Crab would seem to have greater choice in loadouts and more devastating loadouts.
Unless the KIng Crab hit boxes somehow make it much more vulnerable than an Atlas ... why would I ever drive one of my Atlas' over the King Crab?
(Not a troll ... I am actually curious since the King Crab at least appears to be strictly better than an Atlas ... not sure yet how it compares to a Dire Wolf though I think the DW still has the edge since 6 CUAC5 and similar builds are hard to beat ... though the King Crab can do 2xGauss + 2xERPPC for lots of PPFLD fun ... if you can get the coordination correct)
I argued of this two days before the King Crab came out and everyone told me to SHUT UP.
So uhhhhhh ggclose Atlas?
There are so so so many reasons why the Atlas needs huge buffs now in any form. But then they'd nerf the King Crab and then we'd have not a use for either mech.
I admit I like where PGI is heading in direction of the game but Atlas is literally the second worse assault, followed by ol' Awesome who needs moar buffs. Once one of the powerhouses of the game is now the punching bag.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Seriously, bring some muscle to the fight. Anything other than the Glass cannons that are the 100 ton mechs. I mean most clan players will be ditching the Dashi in favor of the Warhawk once they realize they can bring 2 assaults instead of just one with 4 PPCs or Wub Lasers.

The KGC is not at GG as everyone is complaining. It is just as easily dismembered as any other assault.
Here is an idea for everyone who thinks its OP...don't stand toe to toe with it unless your a Whale and you will be just fine.

No one is going to bring an Atlas or a King crab. They are overly ammo dependant, have bad hard point locations and are too fat. The Wubshee, Wubmaster and Stalker will all save you some tonnage, are less ammo dependent, and can generally tank better than the Atlas or King crab.

My Atlas-BH is not ammo dependent at all, and even if I do take him. I can still roll with a Thunderbolt, hunback and my TDK

why not bring a wubshee then? Less tonnage, faster, tanks better, less of a target, big alpha, no ammo dependance at all, wubs. nothing wrong with that.

The real kicker is that even with these advantages, it still got some pretty big quirks too.
