Brawler

Grinder

I've lost a side torso a total of 2 times.

I've also got a sword and board Gauss + 2xAC2 + 2PPC build with a STD engine; enough for a cockpit shot :) That thing I'll turn the empty side towards them and let them grind a crap ton of armor to get to the chewy center

Got to admit, I am seriously considering giving an XL a try in mine as well. Really not seeing a huge amount of ST damage so far. Only one match out of 10 did I lose a ST.

Not that I think LRMs, let alone assault LRMs, are very good right now, but the ammo doesn't seem that crazy.

Given that I run ALRM50 on a BLR-1S with 9 tons ammo and 13 double sinks? I occasionally tap out the ammo, but the heat often cuts into my rate of fire. He's packing 15.5 tons ammo with only 12 double sinks and 10 more launch tubes. To equal it out, one could cut down to 11 tons of ammo and get more heat sinks.

Granted, he already said it was a joke build, but if you've ever run a big LRM mech you'd know that thing just can't throw all that ammo in actual play because it runs way too hot.

My favourite so far:

HAIL TO THE KING

4xAC5, 2LL. Swap for ER's if you want, but I seem to do better with the Vanillas.

Group the AC's to each arm, and you've got an AC20 round every second and a half or so. OR, set it to chain, and watch everything panic. Hilarity!

The 25% speed/mobility boost you get from a 350 vs a 300 is absolutely worth it. You get in and out faster, which reduces damage overall. Most importantly - DON'T BREAK THE STARE.

my semi serious build is

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...042b2d8ff45244e
Quad UAC/5 build with 2 LL
swapped the fero out for endo and upgrade to doubles.
saddly prolonged use of the UAC's causes heat issues on the warmer maps but still not unbearable
and this is my Dakka build
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c573c55f0898662.
6 AC/2
its actually semi viable (cooldown still sucks of course but its a gag build)
all 6 at once you can do a sustained fire for a moderate period of time
3 groups of 2 fired in chain fire (so 3 shots per slavo) is also pretty effective
with a macro and the current cooldown rate i think you could pull off the old school stream of shots too without enduring ghost heat.

this though is my dream Dakka Wub build
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3fd61ceb5b02f67
i know it will have some heat issues and might suck
but i will make it work!
4 AC/2
3 LPL
could probably throw in FF and and more ammo/heatsink/armor or whatever but thats the basic of it

i picture it as a constant DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA with a constant WUB WUB WUB WUB
just hammering at the enemy cockpit until the noise itself drives them insane

side question

Has anyone else noticed some convergence issues with the arm mounted ballistics?
shots seem to go wide of targets at various distances.

Tried something like it. The SRMs were not worth the weight; dropped them and went AC20.

Also...

XL350. Seriously, try it. You're not going to lose an ST in this thing. It's too narrow. It's turning into one of the better XL mechs I've ever played.

I just slapped one together last night but it worked well. 2 x AC/20 and 2 x Large Laser with a standard 300. I was going to add an SRM-6, but decided the extra heat sinks would be better. Worked great!

Loving it. Dual Gauss/PPC (or LPL) is my jam for sure. I have some Dakka on one and just the almost stock loadout on the (L) variant aside from trading LRMs for SRMs.

This match was after I had someone calling me a ******* for asking some teammates to push tunnel and up behind them as they went saddle. Well, only 3 of them responded... and we rekt together! So much for being a *******.

Try this one. I tried to keep it as close to the original armory load out as possible however i added a 280 XL and replaced the armor with normal armor. Also note that i left the armor balance for you to decide yourself. Btw i personally don't have issues with my left and right torsos getting blown out.

KING CRAB KGC-000(L)

This is what I've come up with. Most would probably get mad at the XL, but if you want both speed, and firepower... this makes a superb brawling build.

If you're serious about LRMing you need some ERLLs to contribute to direct ranged combat, you need some heatsinks and you mustn't take too much ammunition. Also, don't skimp on leg armor, any competent opponent will focus the legs on an LRM boat.

Example:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2da05b73ed98b0a
A little light on ammunition, I would've liked closer to 1600 rnds, but the ERLLs will do some work too. Just don't get caught by lights.

Personally I am thinking about ERLLs for ranged combat in general, LB10s + SRMs for close up work.

Something like this for close-up splat:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...702bda89c6909ba

And for hill humping til you're forced to engage:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f48785bc2ef0476

I don't have the KGC yet so this is all theorycraft.

Believe it or not I am finding King Crab's VERY XL friendly.

I commonly run mine with a 350 XL with quad ac5's and other shenanigans. Which free's up a silly amount of tonnage. I rarely end up die'n to a side torso, and if I do, I also have a cherry red CT.

I am only running the "L" right now because i'll wait for the cbill version for the rest but it is a ton of fun.

Really enjoying brawler, sniping & support builds you can do with this.

Not to mention the missile/energy hardpoints make for great shots over terrain & obstacles.

I run with 2xAC20, 2xML and 2x ALRM10. Works a treat thus far.

For those wanting to kill the XL engines KCB's - there are certain shoulder areas that count as side torso. Enjoy. ;)

That explains why i inexplicably lose my side torsos first. And then simply blast their face off with the remaining AC20 because STD300.

I think the Dire Wolf has done a lot to get people used to such slow mechs. In the past, I've gotten left behind while in 325 engines Atlases. 325 engine in a KGC? No one leaves me behind.
