Guessing this has been mentioned before but quick search got me nothing.

The one map forget name does have smaller Aerodyne dropship but not quite what I am thinking

Would be a real neat idea to have a Drop Ship port map. If anything seeing some of the Iconic Drop ships from battle tech would be quite neat. Love to see Union or an overlord.

Maybe even ability to fight inside one or storm one sort of a version of capture flag scenario.

Just my thoughts

Maybe a dropship factory would be really cool too, you could fight in a partially finished one and have scaffolding for lights to run on high above

Greetings all,

The reference size of these elements is a bit too large for most of the maps we have now.
- The single landing pad for a union is nearly 1Km in size, mostly due to the takeoff/landing safety blast area.

That would make the Alpine map and it's ice fields about the correct size for single ships to be placed on. And the only map at this time that could handle more than one.
- The infrastructure for these 'commercial/industrial' locations is massive, about equivalent to a full seaport loading location, but dedicated to just one of these DropShips.

At this timeline in the BattleTech verse, Dropships and Jumpships are prized commodities. And not something that battles would be waged near or around.
- Combat DropShips are a different thing and designed to hot drop in rough areas and locations. There firepower is enough that it's never a good idea to be on the wrong side near one, let alone attempt an assault.

From Lore, most of the construction facilities for these elements were space bound, components were made on ground based factories but the assembly took place in orbit. (that's the large units, smaller 4 mech sized or aerodyne designs were built like we see common planes now.)

The map would be huge in other words. What if we had a port for just one Dropship?

or we could have the map.... IN SPACE !!!! on a space station that was building the drop ship!!!

space combat wouldn't be bad...we can just say magnets when pple ask how do they stay on this map, and how do jump jets work? well they push the mech down at the height of the jump, and they can fly back onto the map if they fell off...
MUHAHAHHAHA

Yeah size would be very large but keep to military size ships wouldn't be to bad. Even the biggest Military drops are still rather small to the biggest commercials. Below is Colossus quick look the biggest military drops at 20,000 tons with mech to give scale. Were not approaching the Behemoth cargo drop at 100,000 tons

With some creative license and maybe stick to small drops a map would be do able but again just my idea. Lots of ways to make it work really

I'd love a proper starport map, and I'd be willing to forgive plenty of liberties with scale to get it.
