What is the procedure for switching Factions? Was in group with contract and loyalty to Davion but IS mechs are not my cup of tea. Quit group but can't find anything to change faction. Faction window says "Time Left On Contract: 01D 23H 47M". Does that mean I can't change faction for 2 days? If not there where is the page that use to exist on the website for changing faction tags!!

I think you can break contract with a button but you suffer penalties.

im having similar issues as well. I wanted to switch to jade falcon but I cant figure out how to do that. if I have to wait 13 days till the contract ends, I'm going to be super pissed to the point where I might as well uninstall and never look at this again. I never asked for this in the 1st place.

if you break contract you still don't get out of the contract. I tried it, instead of 7 days I am stuck for 2. cost 200,000bills to reduce the time.

that's a stupid rule that is implemented if I wanted to get out of contract. why does it have to be such a hassle. another screw-up by PGI. guess I wont be playing for another 13 days if this is actually the case.

You shouldn't have blindly picked a faction, then..

A bit of reading? Perhaps get into a unit, choose what faction you like based off of their beliefs/lore.. I don't know.

theres nothing that pissed me off more than having to wait to get into the group you want to play as. there is no fun in having to wait for something you wanted to get into. You people wanted CW so badly that it had to be released this early.

PGI REMOVE THIS STUPID WAIT TIME AND LET US PLAY THE FACTION WE WANT. IF WE MADE A MISTAKE WE SHOULDNT BE SEVERELY PUNISHED FOR IT BY WAITING FOR 2-3 WEEKS FOR OUR CONTRACT TO END!!!

end rant!

Except that for a lot of people (you know, hardcore Battletech fans) the lore means way more than the mechs. Some of us have been Battletech fans since we were young kids and have grown up with the lore. I think to casually discard that is pretty crass, actually. (And this has nothing to do with you leaving HHoD.)

I think a timed penalty mechanic in between faction changes isn't a terrible idea, keeps merc units from just randomly bouncing around the map, keeps some kind of cohesion and persistence to the ongoing campaigns.

while that reason is somewhat justifiable, you take away from switching from a faction you didn't ask for to begin with.

There has to be some kind of waiting period or some players would constantly be switching faction to join whatever team is winning.

In a sense, it is an answer.
Like I said, if you read around, you would have learned that IS factions could not bring Clam mechs.

I agree there has to be some waiting period, but 48 hours seems excessive on the day of launch, the time when the most number of players might choose the wrong faction. I'm in the same boat, having blindly joined up with CGB before my friends announced they were finally forming a unit, and IS at that.

I cancelled my contract costing 1.5 million c-bills and I'm still unable to play with them for the first two days of Community Warfare, challenge included. Regardless how "fair" it is, it still leaves a very sour taste.
