Run four of these if you have ammo issues:
DRG-1N

Each mech is capable of putting out 1500 damage each.

You got a 50% increase in ammo because you can put it where you want it if you can shoot straight.

You mean on top of the general increase in ammo that PGI gave us anyway, right? Because I remember 120 LRMs per ton in TT, for example, or 10 AC10 shells. Almost all ammunition bins have inflated counts, usually in the other of a 50% bump. SRMs are practically the only exception I can recall.

I don't know, my 2 UAC 5 and 4 MLs Timberwolf is the mech I break out when I need to rip up lances of mechs quickly. Out brawl pretty much any mech and when they look away they get cored from behind.

Your method for CW drops is the antithesis of battletech. You know, where mechs were rare and crazy expensive, and retreating to save them for another battle was usually a very good strategy.

What you describe is the poster child for adding rearm and reload back into this game for CW.

Actually that's exactly what BT was. You had a BV to spend buying mechs. You'd build specific drop decks for specific missions. The only difference with ammo dependent mechs not having a backup is that all our missions are 100% objective dependent, not kill dependent. Thus mechs are, for lack of a better term, expendable.

Yeah, in TT a single ton of ammo dealt 100 damage. So in MWO, it breaks down like:
-AC2: 150
-AC5: 150
-AC10: 150
-AC20: 140
-Gauss: 150

-LRM: 180
-SRM: 215 (200 for clan)

I agree. There needs to be, due to the nature of the game (multiple waves) some way to return to the ship to rearm. Because without it, if you want to use an ammo-heavy 'mech, you're pretty much going to be ejecting when it hits 0.

And yes, you can bring backup weapons, but if you think you're going to do much good with say, 2 medium lasers - yeah. No, you're helping everyone by ejecting and getting a fresh mech at that point.

An interesting observation - I managed three kills with my Mad Dogs hold out lasers (two ER mediums) after I'd run out of ammo in an CW match last night. Just because you don't have a ton of lasers, doesn't mean you can't claim a kill or three.

I personally like what it does to mech builds and planning - you actually need to consider what your load outs are, and think carefully about the drawbacks and advantages of what you drop in. It adds a whole new dimension to play, and I like that.

There are things that need to be improved on, however - Perhaps some kind of partial reload to extend the lifespan/usefullness of a mech? I don't know.

I only know in CBT (Yes, I played CBT) there wasn't a way to rearm or refit in fight usually, forcing you to, much like I said above, think carefully about what you field and how you use it.

It's not perfect, mind, but it does work somewhat.

It's just another example of "I can't do well in that situation so I'm going to project that as being a universal truth"

You're spot on though with your post sir
