I mean IS vs Clan tech... I'd rather they be some sort of PvE but don't see how that would work. But bottom line is fighting as IS against Clanners doesn't work without serious limitations.
I cant see them putting the clan mechs in a PvE mode but not let people play them people would be disappointed plus they cant make money of all those mechs they would need to make.

It's also been stated on several occasions that AI of any kind is not in the cards in the foreseeable future.

I don't think I would like that.
What will probably happen is you choose your faction. Davion, Liao, Kurita, Marik, Steiner, FRR, LoneWolf, and Merc will use Inner Sphere Tech, where Clan Factions (Wolf, Jade Falcon, Smoke Jaguar, Steel Viper, Novacat, Ghost Bear) will use Clan tech. If you switch from IS to Clan it locks out your Inner Sphere mechs. And your trial mechs convert to clan versions. Where as if you switch back to IS, your Clan inventories lock out and you can use your IS stuff again.
Clan's do have a currency, they call them Kerenskys instead of C-Bills or D-Bills/Pounds (there is many different currencies in BattleTech). So they will be able to purchase things with Cbills as normal (at an inflated rate). They might change the symbol to resemble a Kerensky, but its really not needed. Remember, the Clans do have a Merchant Caste.

1. Clan mechs will more than likely be earned through Community Warfare and the Achievements system.
2. There will be no PVE / AI-controlled mechs, Clan or otherwise.
3. Clan mechs will not be MC only.

Kind of them... still more interested in how they intend to balance them.

First they'll introduce them as MC only, for an absurd price (given their current MC pricing system, I shudder to think what a daishi/dire wolf will cost).
Then there will be a huge outcry, and they'll make it so you can pay a TON of MC, or an EPIC AMOUNT of C-bills, and things will quiet down.

A Daishi will cost around 11740MC, slightly less than $50 worth.
1 MC is currently worth 2500C-bills which is how they get a mechs MC price, and Sarna lists the Daishi at 29,350,000 C-bills.

Thank you for this post. I would say "it's suprising that people post before reading forums." But that would be me lying to myself and you.
Expanding on that idea, it would be very neat to see clans introduced with community warfare + unlocking clan battlemechs under a clan faction banner through an achievement system I say HELL YES!

even that sounds unfair. but to be true to BT lore u need some sort of shock invasion. i don't not believe some of the players could pull that off in this game. leave it to the ones who play alot and are damn good at it. give them each 1 clan mech then some system to earn more, honor points/MC. to get a clan er ppc u need to earn say X honor points by dual 2 IS mechs in zell.

Have salvage points. A Won battle gives you C-bills and salvage points. For Clanners, you get K-bills and Honor points.
IS pilots can ONLY get Clan tech (and eventually Clan Mechs) with salvage points. This forces people to actually play the game and EARN the right to use mixtech.
Clanner pilots can earn Clan upgrades with Honor points and K-bills.
Balance: One mechanic exists in the game already for balance- - the Pilot Skill tree. Since Clan Omnimechs do not have variants, it would be impossible for IS pilots to ever "master" them. An IS mech with mixtech could possibly still be the best mech for them.
PGI has already stated that players will not be participating in any canonical battles.

I feel that from time to time, the developers, and *perhaps* (maybe!) others eventually, should spend some time themselves, dropping as the clanners, and if honor demands it of a well judged situation, then a mech or star (or whatever) might/could be given as bond. Can you earn a Clan chassis on a Dev Drop weekend?

These people are living in a fantasy and setting themselves up for disappointment. Because video games.
Ideally clan tech shouldn't even be better, just side grades. Because video games.
Tech won't be exclusive to people based on their faction choice, (a click of a button) and likely we will all represent the cream of our factions and therefore have access to this salvage. Because video games.

Planetside 2 would like a word. Asymmetric equipment can work, does work and isn't even that uncommon. In vidya gaems.
