The current Community Warfare system depends on two things to be successful (where success is determined by players being able to join battles in a reasonable amount of time):
  • There being a critical mass of players participating in CW
  • People being patient
Neither of these things is true. If there were enough players, I'd expect to see the planets along all these borders lit up like Christmas trees with battles. This is not the case. We all know that the average person is not patient by nature.

So game systems like these need to be designed to account for these issues.

I suggest letting players just flag themselves (or unit group) for wanting to queue for a CW battle. It doesn't matter where. I just want to fight in CW.

Then the poor overworked matchmaker can be utilized just like before, getting people in to matches and assigning them to planets to fight over.

And if there are some people trying to attack specific planets, then go ahead and use them as the basis for the matchmaker's decisions.

What is the longest time you have waited until now to get into a CW battle ?

I am currently waiting since more than 70 minutes ...
