Community warfare was intended to have MOBA like concepts. Mostly because this is an easy concept to understand and manage. New players will easily get the concept of a chokepoint or lane to pick and run through to the objective and wont get lost. Everyone has 4 mechs each and each mech constitutes a wave. You have 4 waves to run through your defenders defenses and destroy the cannon like a game of red rover. The defenders don't need to move outside the gates and push back the attackers and makes for easy coordination that's easy to pick up on.

The base gates are very useful because they stop mechs without jump jets and act as an early alarm system for the defending team so they know which gate the enemy is coming through thwarting a surprise attack.

Not being able to just arbitrarily use a "quick match" button that says, "I don't care which planet, attacking or defending, put me in a queue for the next available fight for my faction" makes you consciously and carefully select which planet you want to fight on because you might sit in queue for 30 mins.

It is impossible to have acceptable frame rates with what the community wants. Such as map size and the amount of players on the map at one time. You want a big game but can't pay the big game "price".

These maps aren't a MOBA. They're just bad.

The maps are designed like a MOBA, but don't play like them at all. The enemy isn't pushing, There is no giant towers to kill. no minions.

There is no reason to have the maps the way they are, unless they plan on adding some of these things.

Defenders basically just wait and use the gates as early warning systems.
Attackers are just annoyed by the long walk to the fight with no real idea or focus behind these hallways.

Maybe we should turn the game into a rail shooter, just to make sure.

You are aware you can just open all of them while the defenders are locked inside and then go group up somewhere else, right?

Truly, selecting a planet out of a few dozen, based on pretty much only the name (because I'm not being told who else is there) is a critical gameplay element and failure to guess the right one should be punished severely.

Maps don't make a MOBA ...

MOBA is an acronym for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, which began (at least began to be recognized) with mods of Starcraft and Warcraft 3 (most notably Defense of the Ancients or DOTA). It has become a more and more popular game type with the mega success of League of Legends and its ilk ...

Many of them have a very set map type as seen in LoL and DOTA2 ... (who have virtually identical maps at least viewed from afar) ... creating a mirrored arena with 3 lanes and areas of "jungle" in between and "objectives" at regular points which need to be overcome to proceed towards the final goal of destroying the enemy base.

But the MAP does not make it a MOBA ... in fact, MWO is a Multi-player Online Battle Arena style game in most senses of the word. MWO does still try to balance disparate teams in a competitive arena-battle environment. But the gameplay is not at all like LoL or DOTA in their objectives, characters, rule sets or map layout.

I don't think the maps are horrible .. but they have some issues, some are much worse than others. This is to be expected, LoL has one map that most of the "real" games occur on (3 other maps which see some action, but not in the actual pro games) and they are still improving it 4 years later ...

Ok, your right, the maps don't make the game type a MOBA. Because, as you stated, the game doesn't have the fun features like "objectives at regular points which need to be overcome to proceed towards the final goal of destroying the enemy base." are not present. Guess it's a MOBA without the fun stuff.

Or
It's a persistent world fighting over the entire galaxy that IS fun for quite a few.

In my last post. "Fun stuff" referred to the fun stuff that makes a MOBA a MOBA and not to the fun stuff that makes MechWarrior fun.

If the Defenders could open the Gates from their side, then you could be BOSS, and take 11 minions out with you, if you Die, the minions fight without BOSS until he/she respawns and returns to said lane. Now what FUn stuff could be put in those lanes, hmmmm? That would be MOBA fun right...? ;)

such as?
"fun stuff" is not indicative of anything.
"Fun stuff" for me is what we have in CW now.

"Fun stuff" Is actually indicative to the "Fun stuff that makes a MOBA a MOBA" which was put together in the same sentence for an English understanding individual to understand.

The real issue is, you don't understand what "Fun stuff makes a MOBA a MOBA". Please experience League of Legends or End War Online or understand the concepts laid out by user Strig in an earlier post to fully understand my concept.

I did not say Community Warfare wasn't fun. Just that it does not have fun attributes of a MOBA even though it has the maps of one drawing the conclusion that maybe the maps shouldn't have been designed this way.

We are comparing because the maps have lanes like MOBA maps do.

There could be elementals , infantry, or worse EWOKS in those canyons of doom. I got a Baaaaaaaaaad feeling about this drop.

Add Demolisher , Alacorn, pegasus tanks, bunkered infantry in random concealed positions with streak 2 launchers, inferno missiles, man pack ppc. Make em tough enough to maim a mech before reaching the gates and Random spawned if possible so different with different camouflage. Give attackers 5 waves of mechs defenders 4.

2nd wave have antimech helecopters tougher than the weak sauces of mw3 and 4. Attack after your 2nd respawn. 3rd random airstrikes from aerotech units.

gotta fight you way through the whole mission against random combined arms.

Haha. As if this game plays like a MOBA. In a MOBA you can't zoom way out and snipe people across the map. That's as bad as people saying we should stick to BT rules and values. It's a First-Person Shooter.
