That's...a different idea. I don't even know how I feel about that. Depends on how accurate they can make it.

I might argue that listening to children, people belching, drunk idiots and control-freaks is even harder.

Not when you have a quick mute button.

Would make rapid scout reports a LOT easier, that's for sure. Along with all kinds of commands and heads up that need to be typed in combat, but can't be.

Yeah... I like this idea, a lot actually. It's a fresh, interesting idea, and certainly not one you see often.

Head over to YouTube, and caption any video.

Music is especially hilarious.

If the industry giants can't perfect it, it's unlikely that PGI can. I'm not saying I don't want them to implement it, but that's purely for entertainment value.

Stopping to mute every idiot individually is FAILTECH

Youtube auto-captions are in no way indicative of how far the technology has come.

Ok fine, tough guy, you might have missed it over the years that it's been discussed, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...
I have already missed important text in the middle of combat during CW in the heat of combat and I've only played 5 matches. I wouldn't have missed it spoken. In a 30 minute match, 15 seconds to mute 2 people (which is the regular outside boundary of people you would ever be likely to need to mute) is not ample justification to not include VOIP. So yeah, nice try...

It'd be cool to have an option for having a computer voice speak typed communications as well (like a GPS or Microsoft Sam). Easy to miss text when there are lasers and other distractions on screen.

but its something you don't have to hear if there's an easy to access mute function.

Well, except Google has one of the best voice recognition algorithms out there. The fact that people complain about it doesn't mean it's terrible - it means that there is no piece of software that can effectively translate lots of different languages, accents and intonations. Even Apple, having spent bajillions of dollars on Siri, have to allow the program to adapt and learn before it can consistently recognize speech from just one person.

If it worked, then heck yes, i'd be all over it.

basic commands via keys and flares would work fine too.

Being attacked "flare location"
Attack here "flare location"
Group here "flare location"

VOIP is probably better. To make the same tech for speech to text they'r going to have to go through VOIP anyway
