How does a unit eventually show ownership of a planet?

I mean, we attacked on Planet for multiple hours, including the 1st and last tokens gained by attackers (and by ceasefire time out, 11 tokens were gained by the attackers insuring the change of Planetary control), but after the ceasefire time out, when the map came back, another unit's name were the new owners...

So how does that work?

I "believe" which ever unit had gained the most Loyalty Points is what determines who becomes the Occupying Unit.

That is my understanding too, but I would REALLY like clarification. We spent a lot of time on 1 Planet yesterday (I suspect the 1st and last victory on it as well as many along the way) and another team got the ownership.

Its not a big deal, just wondering the requirements to 'take ownership' and have your 'team name' listed as current ownership.

My unit has 3 planets and I've also been wondering the how of getting your unit tag on the planet.

Just tweeted at Russ to see if we can get an answer.

I think the unit with the most tokens (attacking wins) receives the planet as a "reward".

I think it is the unit that played the most games on the planet.

I find that hard to believe. We were fielding one 12 man all weekend. There's no way we put up more win tokens then the bigger units. There has to be some other factors at play.

It's whichever Unit contributes the most Wins on the planet. You can earn ownership via both attacking and defending.

I'm sorry I can't really give you an official source. Let's just say I have it on good authority. If you still want to pursue an official response you can always try to Tweet Russ or ask Karl Berg in his mega-thread - they're both usually pretty good about getting back to short questions like that.
