Had a thread about this a long time ago in GD that went nowhere. Now that CW is out, thought I'd throw it out there again.

In the interest of promoting the use of mechs that are traditionally factional, how about adding a 20% LP quirk bonus on mechs towards the faction that uses them? I.E., using a Jenner K gives you a 20% LP Kurita bonus, or a Jenner D gives 20% Davion bonus, etc. That way, people can still use them for whatever house they are contracted to, but it incentivizes using mechs specific to your house/clan.

Do you really want to encourage people to pilot the terrible treb and atlas?

I support idea to encourage people play on mechs, specific to their faction. It is good for roleplay, and overall impression. Exactly encouraging with some small bonuses, not with some restrictions. LP sounds good enough.
I guess we will have something like this at CW Phase 3.

Found a page in profile settings where Loyalty Points earned can be assigned, what is the purpose of that, is it just a placeholder for future enhancements? Seems like they would be automatically assigned based on current settings. I would post a screenshot of the area but I am hoping that someone knows offhand. Thanks!

PS: it is in forum profile / account details / there is an option to "Assign Loyalty Points" that brings up a dialogue where one can assign LP earned to a faction. What is that for, and what does that do or accomplish?

Those are points you got for having Phoenix mechs and playing since last year.
Simply assign them to wichever faction you want.

All for this idea. There are some nice lists of how common a given chassis is for a given faction; giving any LP bonus (Phoenix Mechs only do 10%, medallions 2.5%) would be much welcomed.

I get that, but what does that accomplish in the long run? What is the benefit of me assigning them to my chosen faction, as opposed to another faction, which seems to me to be a bit idiotic. Why would I assign LP to a clan faction, as it appears that I can, as opposed to Davion? Makes no sense. Another placeholder? Will we know soon™?

/signed.

This is a good idea, and one that PGI should seriously consider.

However, I'd tend to limit it to specific variants, rather than trying to stack up a quirk for each House/Clan that favors a particular mech. Otherwise you'd wind up with some variants having +1% to all Houses or something similarly dumb.

Restrict it to iconic mechs and variants (K variants, S variants, Panthers generally, Enforcers generally, etc.).

How about coming at it from another direction. (I realize coding the following would be difficult).

Quirks that apply to the effectiveness of mechs based on the faction you're figting for, or even faction mechs cost less tonnage in your drop-deck.

For instance, when piloting a Dragon and allied to Kurita, you might get another 5-10% fire rate boost, or Commandos would only cost 20tons in a drop deck for Steiners, since they used a lot of commandos.

Because a lot of people switched loyalty when CW came out. So instead of just assigning points to whatever a player may have been aligned to pre-CW, which may or may not have ultimately been their favored faction, PGI is allowing those people to choose where those points go. Also goes the other way as well. My unit is a Ghost Bear unit, so when CW came out I was assigned to the GB faction. Ultimately I actually prefer Liao, so I am glad that I get to assign those points to Liao so I can have a head start on that faction should my unit ever switch or I decide to leave them.

Don't complain when PGI gives us MORE options.

If you're wondering why a person might want loyalty points in more than one faction, Russ talked about the possibility of special rewards depending on who you have loyalty with. The example he gave was reaching a certain loyalty level with all 5 IS houses to unlock some Wolf's Dragoon's title/faction/swag etc.

i like the idea
many pilots will not care and drive what they want
just as many id guess will pick up some faction specific mechs , especially the loyalists

the best part is that its non-intrusive as to what mechs you should be driving
im 100% behind the divide between IS and Clan, but the IS is a messy place and anything goes there
driving IS mechs should not be limited and this idea supports that while encouraging faction identity

I approve of benefits for playing in your faction's mechs. I already planned on running Centurions and Enforcers when I swap to Davion, but would certainly appreciate more rewards for it.
