Currently, the empty drops are being awarded as victories, allowing the system to be gamed. imho, if we're going to continue to allow dropping against empty defenses, then those matches can be rewarded at the contract level as they are currently to the players in the match, but the match itself should not count toward the overall gameboard/planet progression because it's too easy to game (as we've already seen).

The entire point of CW is warfare, not gaming free drops by the clan with more members all dropping to attack at the same time on the same planet. That only ensures that even if every match with actual defenders is won by the defenders, the attackers get the planet simply because they also had way more 12-mans drop without defenders available to stop them. That's just silly, because there is literally no way to prevent that from happening and you're allowing attackers to game the system at the expense of defenders. And it's already a common occurrence. That's not to say defenders should be able to game it either by not showing up, rather that we need to at least take the small step of preventing attacker gaming of the system and then work toward an ideal state for the entire attack/defense of planets concept.

For now, it could be as simple as having the system check to see if there have been successful defenses of that planet within the past 12 hours, in which case any empty drops are discarded. If no successful defenses have occurred in 12 hours, then empty drops could start to count again for that planet.

Talking about merc units is actually irrelevant because in the current scenario there will always be times where this sort of gaming happens regardless, due to time zones, abusive coordination, etc.

If you want a planet, you should have to fight for it, period, for the sake of gameplay. If every actual defense of the planet is successful, it is utterly ridiculous to score the empty drops for the attacker and give the planet to the attackers simply because they gamed it by sync dropping additional units to purposely get unopposed "wins".

Yes, they dropped, so give them their 50k cbills/ 50LP, but that match should not count toward the contest of the planet unless no one has defended it in a while.

There are only two maps so the actual planet does not matter really. If a defend has no attacker and an attack has no defender on different planets then slap them together even if it is the wrong faction. Maybe keep clan and IS separate though. It's beta so this might increase actual matches for beta data collection.

What is an empty drop? You cant deop against no one and you can queue for ever and not get a game if thats what you call 'gaming the system'.
