So I have a Commando w/ three lasers and a srm, a Spider with one laser and 4 mg's, and a Hunchback with a medium laser and a AC/10.
Should I take out the Spider and replace it with the Jenner with lasers and missiles? Also, should i revert the Hunchbacks AC/10 to a /20?
Next, community warfare. Any tips, beyond finding a group for the queue?

If you are a solo player, drop in whatever you are most comfortable in. Premade 4-player lances and 12-player teams build their mechs around specific tactics, but there is no way to knowing what you'll need if you are solo dropping.

Solo dropping is possible, but groups are better. Since you are currently an unaligned merc-corp you or your unit leader will have to pick a Faction and a contract length before you can play in Community Warfare.
There are several teamspeak servers noted in the Factoin portion of the Forums. Remember to communicate as much as possible if you see a large group on your team working together even if only via text if you don't use teamspeak.
Don't worry about performance your first drop. Try to get a feel for the map and watch what others are doing.

Depends on the quirks for the 'mechs you want to use (You can check them by going to the 'mech lab tab and hovering your pointer over the 'mech until the info window pops up to the right) and which weapons you are comfortable with using in battle. It doesn't cost anything to interchange equip/weapons between 'mechs you own. You just have to remember to check your 'mech's loadout before going into battle I guess so you're not finding yourself lacking.
As for the Community Warfare, I can't help you with that as I haven't bothered looking into it myself unfortunately.

CW is, in my experiance, much more satisfying playing as part of an orgonized group,
your team can come up with a tactic and chose Mechs accordingly, this will give you better odds of winning, also you are sure that the bulk of the team is on the same page with regards for what to do,
I have yet to have a bad CW match with my unit (4-12 players on teamspeek), but have had bad matches every time I drop solo for CW.

Playing as part of a unit has it's drawbacks though as some players have pointed out you go where your unit commander want's to go, especially if your in a Merc unit. Personally if i wanted a boss telling me what to do and where to work, I'd go to work. But this is a game, so i like the independence to go where i want. Now i know the loyalty points system is there to try and create some faithfulness to a particular faction but at the end of the day this is a game and has no real bearing on how you actually play. As as it stands there are no actual penalties when breaking a contract except loss of future LP for that faction but then you gain Lp from your new faction. So as a merc unit go wherever you want and select the short contracts unless of course your a die hard faction loyalist then select the long term contracts for a bonus.
As for finding a match wait no more than 5 minutes for a planet and it helps to click on the pop ups that says x or y needs defenders/attackers. This seems to be the fastest way to find matches as a PUG.
If your dropping solo its a safe bet to bring long range direct fire line of sight weapons as you have no idea what the rest of your team will be bringing. If you like lights scout out the positions and relay it via team chat but CW is proving very difficult for solo players at the moment. So as others have said bring what you like until you find a role and builds that suits you.

Unfortunately there isn't much info on your respective spider / jenner builds - i've piloted both; and the SDR-5K (which is the variant with 4 MGs) didn't work that well for me - but that is completely subjective.
Now, in all honesty; i switched into the cockpit of my most hated nemesis: i mastered the spider recently when the endless waves of loyalty King Crabs hit (splendid pickings for lights, btw) - before that i really don't want to remember how many tons of LB-X ammo and petajoules of Lasers i pumped into enemy spiders for little to no effect.
From someone who loved the jenner dearly and sold it recently: i wouldn't go for it. With the current mega-alphas; you're pretty likely to die within seconds if you make even a small mistake. The difference is: the spider has massive ,favourable HSR- and hitboxproblems, the Jenner actually suffers the damage it is dealt, a well piloted Spider which keeps its speed up and uses his JJs for good effect can tank more damage than an Atlas.
Since the Spider invulnerability was in effect from the day i started MW:O and hasn't been fixed yet, it is quite unlikely it will be anytime soon.
Regarding the hunchback: i've never been a fan of the AC10 - it's a flubbed compromise between a club to the face (AC20) and precise salvo-firing from several AC5s (a single one doesn't do much). If you've got only one ballistic hardpont, the LB-10-X can be a viable, yet sometimes frustrating alternative. Sometimes it is an archangels flaming sword of righteous fury, sometimes it's about as effective as spraying febreze in the general direction of the enemy.

depends on which HBK you are using... Personally, for CW, don't take the 4G, it is just way to ammo dependent. the 4H with an AC-10, will let you add more ammo, and has more lasers when you run out. I will be grabbing it down the road, as it seems like a pretty viable mech post quirk.
Though if you are still trying to make money, and level mechs,, i really would recommend you just keep playing in the normal Cue.. CW can take a long time to get matches, and even longer to make money and if you get a bad team instead of 5 mins and it is over.. it is more like 20-30.. just not fun IMO. Pug's are the way to make cash, and level for sure.
You also might want to try to squeeze a heavy into your cue, playing all lights with the way the CW is now, is not really all that beneficial, which is kinda sad. I really thought they would have much more in the way of Roll warfare, but it is basically storm a base, or defend it.. so more fire power, and more armor is just better. I really only dropped a few times with it, but all the matches went the exact same way... Squeeze through a choke point and kill, or be killed. Hopefully it will get better as things go, after all it is beta.
