People can critisize MW4 for a number of things, but the movement of the mechs is not one of them. They are still far better than what MWO has currently.

How exactly does it differ? I played MW2, 3 and 4 many moons ago and don't remember as to how MW4 is better than MWO in that regard... ?

You never know what will be possible in the timeline this game and the tech is in.

I'll criticise MW4's mech animations!
MW4 had mechs that walked but couldn't change gait into a run. At slow speed it looked OK, but at medium or high speeds the animations took on the comic look of an olympic speed walker with legs and shoulders waggling frantically back and forth and from side to side. To me, it made the mechs look very small. Real-world large objects just don't move like MW4's mechs did.
MW3 and I think MWO use animations that "glide" a bit to prevent this. MW4's animations were also far too bouncy. Run MW4 up and look at the cockpit of a Raven as the mech moves at speed. The up-and-down oscillations would turn the pilot to jelly. In fact, the high-frequency oscillations of MW4 completely undermined - at least for me - any feeling that we were dealing with very heavy large machines.
In short - I really like MWO's animations. I think they get the feel of a large war machine just right.
