Wondering how drop decks are working for people with/without a DDC? I'm really reluctant to give up stompy but it means taking a spider in my 4th slot (not a terrible thing but...). THe problem taking the atlas is its easy to get unlucky going round a corner at the wrong time and cop a few alphas and there goes 100 tons.

I just tried Orion, Thunderbolt, Centurion, Trebuchet... so no massive heavy hitters but more balanced firepower all round which worked ok.

I think ECM is so important you have to take one if you have one

I take my Free Victor on the first rotation but if I had an ECM Mech I would take it

The Clans have abundant ECM now, and the Sphere seems to be struggling. It seems as though pilots are taking FireStarters for their lights above all others, and Clan LRM carriers are having a field day.

It just seems there are far better mechs out there for less tonnage that will have a greater impact on your drop deck, unless you're both confident and competent with the other mechs in your lineup.

I take a Crab in mine, though, (/hypocricy) so if you can make a DDC work and contribute, take it.

Yeah I'm ok in my DDC and in some CW matches so far it has really shone but other times it just gets focus fired before it can even engage. So a bit of a gamble.

Personally I feel stalker is a better mech to bring, let lights/medium cicada's handle the ECM...but back to atlas a moment...

here's the thing...traditional setups for pub games used in CW don't generally work as well, the same holds true for the AC20/mlas/3xSRM6 atlas setup. You don't want to go brawl setup really, you want some range so you can maintain a full supportive role.

Start thinking ERllas (dont use ppc's, the low arms on the atlas make it a super pain in the ass), LRM's, and some sort of AC with distance (ac5's, uac5's, perhaps even gauss). Focus on using your armor for the purpose of staying alive as long as possible instead of charging in tanking.

Here's a quickly thrown together setup that probably has mistakes in it, but gives you a general idea of what im talking about: LRM's for screenshake and distance harassment, ERllas for range poke, UAC5's for anyrange damage, extra screenshake, and some brawl defense.

It's really hard to give up a Jenner or Firestarter for an ECM light, and also really hard to justify 100tons just for an ECM Atlas.

Guess I'll just keep waiting for the IS to get something in the 50-80 ton range with a jesus box.

So far a Stalker has been about as heavy as I'm willing to go and I usually don't even bring my assaults. I also am reluctant to bring lights. Heavies and Mediums have been my bread and butter thus far. I will change it up every other match just for more variety.

As tactics are being developed I'll probably revisit my drop deck more often. I know a few changes I'm wanting to make next time I drop with Seraphim just so I can sync up with their builds better.
