Maybe do a last ditched push when theres 5 mins left on the timer.
Sure, you have a pretty much 100% chance of losing but ironically, this gives you more rewards than killing the generator. Go figure.

Also losing on purpose to pad your rewards defeats the entire point of CW.

It won't become very popular. You'll see units taking over on that kind of stuff. I'm sure you'll see it here and there but losing is not going to become a widespread tactic in CW

As a pug AND a merc, what exactly is my motivation when attacking to try to win?
Winning offers no tangible benefit to a solo dropper, ESP on a zerg rush. As a merc, I WANTS TA GET PAID. Which I don't in a Zerg rush. Laying as much pain as I can on the defenders is what is going to maximize both LP and Cbills for me, which are what is important to soloers and mercs.

Hey, tell that to some of your Clan mates. 4 PUGs including myself decided to rush and destroy the generator when we realized the Ghost Bear 8-man we were with was more interested in earning c-bills than actually winning.

If you were in a unit you'd have the added bonus of the increased tactical awareness due to being on comms thus (in theory) more chance to defeat said zerg rush and have increased earnings. Also (in theory) you'd win more.

Defense is all about laying pain! Wish I could ever get to play defense, my limited drops have all been offense so far.
I'm talking about being on offense, and specifically Zerg rush attacks.
As a merc, I don't take pride in wins, so don't appeal to my sense of honor, I have none. I take pride in a large bank account.

If all you want is c-bills then logically speaking you shouldn't play CW. Because the public queue offers you far higher c-bill per hour rewards.

this is true, but doesn't rushing and ending the game in less than 5 minutes defeat the entire purpose of CW as well?
Once the generator is buff'd and simple loaded 1st wave zerg rushing is removed, CW will change completely.

The point of CW is to win and take planets. Killing the generator achieves that, losing on purpose doesn't.
What's flawed is that winning gives you much lower rewards than losing because you wanted to get a high kill count.

But I want to play with the new shiny...
And I also want LP, which bring chills and (supposedly?) mech bays/MC eventually?
And if CW is about the RP aspect of BattleTech, I'm RPing a merc. Mercs have a HUGE role in MechWarrior, and getting paid is what a merc values.

This is how it's been for me as well, seems to be the trend. My lil' lance groups up and blows up team chat with intel until we realize that no one else is communicating over team chat because the rest of the team are all on private TS. Not one player from the 8-man we're with decides to even communicate to us that all they want to do is farm CBills, so our four person lance is left to guess when we're supposed to push, and when we're supposed to rush (which, little do we know, isn't even in the cards).
Seriously, to all 8 or 10 man groups who get placed with a different unit lance or some PUGs, just type in the goddamn team chat what we're doing, for the love of god.

So does zerg rush deal with it. Mercs are going to go for what pays the most winning a worthless planet has no money in it.

Reading comprehension is hard apparently. Its strange that people don't seem to comprehend that losing on purpose is a bad thing to do.

And lore wise, trying to explain to your employer that you are losing on purpose to get kills is pretty hard to do. Lore arguments really arent appropriate here.

I am absolutely not trying to lose on purpose, where did I say that?
I'm doing what my employer is paying me to do, kill the enemy. If winning was what was paramount to my employer, then winning would pay a lot and killing would pay very little.

Your employer hired you to take a planet. He doesn't give a flying duece out of a shaved monkey's @zz how many mechs you kill. He wants the planet.
