Word of Lowtax is currently coordinating an attack against Mentasta. They will zerg rush the generator and plant firestarters on top of Omega (since they can't win a straight-up fight.) Defend the Mentasta Omega Point and don't chase.

I was on the receiving end of one of their attacks as well. They don't seem to be all that talented when it comes to an all out fight, so they just do the "jump behind omega with firestarters" trick to try winning.
If you encounter a WoL group, just expect it and adapt accordingly.

I shall bestow upon thee a divine revelation from our beloved Chancellor. Goons don't look for turret wins. Turret wins are boring and bad game play. Staring at a timer counting down for 10 minutes isn't fun as I'm sure you're aware. Especially so since taking planets means literally next to nothing.
