I played CW all day yesterday in groups ranging from solo-10 man and I had the best luck with just two of us. Leading pugs is easy if you have a tactical mind, are polite, and can type fast. I ran with tons of good solo players and I'd say that 95% off the guys I dropped with follow orders and actually care about team work. Now, I have never tried being silent all match, so I have no idea what happens if you don't take charge, but I have a feeling that someone else would step up, as most players seem to be ready to follow a plan.

If you are getting stomped regularly, it's your fault, you are the problem. This game has a wide rage of skill levels playing it and sometimes you stomp people, some times it's really close, and sometimes, you get completely crushed. Enjoy your victories, relish the close games, learn from your, defeats, and most importantly, keep it fun.

If losing makes you mad, then maybe you need to invest more time and effort in not losing, instead of blaming the people that already did so. If you aren't willing to run better configs, work as a team, and (god forbid) do some research on how things work, then go play deathmatch. If you actually want to have fun in CW, you have to try a bit harder(and yes, I despise the term tryhard, people who use it are cryhards)

Tbh, the main gripe I have atm with CW is the layout of the snow map. It was never that fun to play, no matter as attacker or defender. Pugging an attack on the snow map is with a high chance a loss, Defending is comparatively easy and a decently playing pug with zero to none comm can win it against 10 or 12 man groups. The other map(sorry, I never paid attention to the names) is quite balanced, imo, brawl and fight-heavy and not as easy to rush with the addition of the secondary generators. PGI probably should consider some adjustment to the snow map in favour of the attackers. E.g.: Less cover in the base, more cover outside, shorter way from dropship to base or a heavily covered one. Getting torn down by clan lasers and LRMs, losing substantial amounts of armor before getting into brawl range or even close to the base and turrets is ridiculoid.

Some people don't want to join a unit just to play a game. Some players don't want to care about dropdecks and team strategy and just drop and have fun. Atm CW is a dead place for me as I just want to spend the time and don't have the nerve to join a unit. I know CW hardcore yada yada yada dedicated players yada yada yada playground for units yada yada yada...

So...just to be perfectly clear here:
-You don't want to join a unit.
-You don't care about what you take.
-You don't care about working as a team, nor strategy.
and...
-You just want to have fun without any long term commitment and/or consequences.

That's cool bro. So tell me. Why exactly are you wanting to play a game mode designed around all the concepts you so despise?

I can't even think of a less extreme analogy to compare your statements. It's as if you're a dedicated chess player who doesn't want to bother with first person shooters. Why then, would you go out and buy Quake, and then complain about it not being like chess?

That's literally how nonsensical you're argument (if it can even be called one) is.

No. The game mode is fun and can surely also be interesting for Pugs. You don't need to be a 12 man team on comms to take any enjoyment out of it. Your "argument" revolves, in the end, around your ideal of CW, what you expect of it, conclusively making you ignorant to players who try to enjoy the game in a different way than you. And you call my argument nonsensical. The nerve.

It would be dumb on PGI's part to restrict such a massive feature to only a part of the community but as long as people like you play ignorant and miffed this only gets harder for PGI. And it makes them losing customers, I can't imagine how depressing CW must be for someone who just started the game. Heck, even for someone who invested his first 2-3 months into the game. I'm sure there are things you can do to make both crowds happy. Pug queue made solo skirmish/assault/conquest drops alot more enjoyable for people who don't want to drop with a unit. I don't see why this should be different for CW. With things like a public chat in the faction overview PGI would take an important step to community-building different than forcing people into it.

There are also problems with the layout of the snow map which are detrimental to the experience of CW, jotted down by me a couple of posts above your well-mannered and thoughtful answer.

Invasion game mode needs to be in pug/premade queue.

This lets the people who just want the gamemode play it without sandbagging the crap out of factions.

This lets pugs who will want to get into CW practice the maps and learn some fundamental tactics before getting into it.

One thing of late (could just be the holidays though) seems to be quite a population drop on CW right now. Even with seeing what is happening in the queues does not stop long wait times.

I joined a unit and suffered loss after loss using the same strats over and over and over. Suggest a change and get ignored. Went back to solo to finish the challenge and did better W/L, K/D, and damage. Groups are as good as their leaders. And sometimes the leaders need to rethink their thinking, take some advice or step down. I would rather fight with a group of unorganized pugs, than fight with a group that thinks they're organized and plays the same strat, the same mechs and plays the same blame game during and after matches.

I have dropped solo ever since CW started. I have been on the recieving end of 12 mans multiple times but usually it is group vs group with solo players filling in. When it has been a 12 man vs pug group usually 12 man wins but not always. I have been on a defending group that stopped many attacker 12 mans. Sadly when it is attacking with pugs vs 12 man defending that is tougher but heck attacking is just tough to begin with.

Maybe add dropships and such to Skirmish. Then the dedicated solo players who hate teamwork can at least just do that instead.

What I cannot understand is how would adding a solo mode for CW take anything away from anyone playing MWO? If fact it would be adding to the game. How anyone can argue against that is just remarkable.

People are worried that it would increase the wait times for games to unbearable levels.

It would I get two or three ghost drops a day.....over Christmas vaca when no one is at work.

......I'd also contend that its a good place for the non-unit member to learn the tactics, but if today taught me anything its that these people will NEVER friggin learn.
