Ceasefire Hot-Fix Report - 12/19/14

Greetings MechWarriors,

We will be rolling out a hot-fix to resolve the following issue during tonight's Community Warfare Ceasefire* window:

  • In the Planet Finder window, Invaders who are defending against a counter-attack are sometimes counted as Planet Defenders, while Defenders who are counter-attacking are sometimes counted as Planet Attackers
Server Downtime: None
Patch Required: None
Services Affected: Private and Invasion lobbies only

* The standard Community Warfare Ceasefire runs from 8:20PM PST (4:20AM UTC) until 9:00PM PST (5:00AM UTC).

I tried my best to make that bug easily understandable, but in the process I feel like I lost the ability to make that determination.

So does this mean that players were sometimes fighting for the other team?

I'm pretty sure it means that the planet finder/matchmaker shows an incorrect number of attackers and defenders, therefore this is just a quick fix to that (sometimes it places the number reading wrongly.)

What that meant to me was sometimes members of the attacking faction were counted as defendes when doing a base defense match giving false. High numbers. Thx for the fix guys.

So you are saying that in the case of invaders who are defending against a counter-attack one would normally think of them of as attackers, but actually from a non-linear, non subjective, point of view it is more like a big ball of wibbily-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff?

Is this patch going to fix the insane wait times? 1 match every 2 hours for CW really sucks PGI fix your game.

Exactly, If you think about it logarithmically it makes perfect sense. Well, from a non-tangential linear point of view.
(best I could come up with. you SO beat me to the punch on the Dr Who take. lol )

Is this the issue where you select defend, but end up Counter Attacking?

I'm pretty sure what Alex actually meant was that all players named "Dawnstealer" will be permanently made "ruler of the universe" and given a personal Hatchetman, Urbanmech, and Fortress Class Dropship.

Uhm... they put 1.21 Gigawatt into the Flux Capacitor, to fix some time issues i think...
