So... Variant Speculation!
I believe that we can safely assume that the "standard" MAD-3R is a given.
The remaining common (e.g. not one-off) variants (up to 3052) would be MAD-1R (the SLDF Royals variant), the MAD-2R (the Royals upgrade to the 1R), the MAD-3D, the MAD-3L, the MAD-3M, the MAD-5D, the MAD-5M, and the MAD-5S.
Of those, only the MAD-5D and MAD-5M are jump-capable.
None of the Marauder variants carry an ECM suite in their stock configurations until the debut of the MAD-5L in 3067.

It's insanely better than those horrid project phoenix redesigns (the TRO, not the MWO ones,) and it's a good comparison to the original. Sorry it's not what you're looking for, but I think it's the best we can ask for since we won't ever get the originals back (and probably shouldn't as they're a bit dated/thin compared to the rest of the designs.)
I haven't spent a dime on MW:O since Project Phoenix (and haven't really played since then either,) but still looking forward to seeing how this appears visually in the game.
Basic MAD-3R I'd probably swap out the AC for an ultra 5, drop the PPCs to ER Larges (or upgrade to ER PPCS,) and maybe change the Mediums to either pulse variants or see if I can't finagle a 4 LL variant.

Now the Shimmering's Marauder is the most beautiful MAD out there, IMHO. It is terrific that MWO now has a very similar one.

I would love PGI's current design, or that first one you showed.

Since they added the S variants to the Wolves, they sure as hell better give us at least one Jumping capable variant for the Marauder.
One variant I'd like to try is the 5M. Drop the Pulses down to ER LLs/standard MLs. Add endo steel and then swap the XL down to a standard for a more robust version. Might be a bit too weak for MWO though as it was more of a TT idea. I'd imagine that most people would go with the Gauss Rifle and a quartet of MPLs instead.
Ahhh! It all makes sense why they're releasing the Marauder now...I just saw the list of the proposed new quirks that someone posted from the Public Test Server. Whoo boy are those things stinkers.

Earlier today my 5-year old was playing with my Command Pod Glaug model as we were digging through storage boxes. Later on in the day the Marauder concept art came across the TV screensaver. My boy took in a quick breath; I looked over and asked "where have you seen that before?" He replied, " In the studio!"
I think that speaks volumes about the translation of forms from original art to new concept.

Can't think of a better test in a trial!
(I hope the HG lawyers don't read this)

yet depending on angle, still looked more like a MAD II. Which was always my knock on it...not the design itself, but the heft simply didn't feel like a Marauder.
Alex's version looks a lot like he streamlined Shim's design (and the canon 4X that Shim did), right down to the slightly too dinky forearm weapon pods.

#2 - Resistance III
- medium: Bushwacker
- heavy: Exterminator, War Dog
- assault: Devastator or Pillager
These are ones i would like to see other than the Marauder, Warhammer (reseens) which are coming.

It's because Shimmering Sword did the redesigns for Catalyst for the Unseens which means Flying Debris is basing the MW:O concepts off that. It'll be the same for the rest and you can be sure the Warhammer will be much alike to what's been shown recently. It looks amazing too

Yes, it looks like the Battletech art will be much more unified from now on. MWO inspired the art for the tabletop books and now the TT, with the Unseen, inspires MWO back.
Thanks God we had Alex Iglesias to set up the standard. I hope in 10 years the next Mechwarrior/Battletech title will be heavily drawn over MWO's designs.
