I don't mind. Honestly, I don't really understand why so many people take issue with the idea of PGI making their own mechs. MW4 did it and no one batted an eye, so why is MWO being given the short end of the stick in that regard?

I met the MW:4 originals largely with indifference back then and I still do. Uziel and Roughneck e.g. are pretty much the same from my point of view.

I am interested in the lore of the new Mech though. A nice backstory surely helps.

We were not going to see amazing designs like Uziel if we were going to implement fan favorites all the time.

Yeah, how could we live without the Uziel...?
...a Mech that is in no FCCW-era novel, story, or RAT.
...a Mech that defined a new quality of 'bad' in MWO.

That's not a very good example... :/

Anyway, if a game (or IP) does not make the fans happy, it's doing it wrong.

depends if he speaks of the MW4 Uziel, or the **** we got...

Oh well, I can live with 1 mech by PGI/year.

And here are the mechs I want to see in 2018/2019: (I need to make a new signature - as I lost the source file of the old one)

IS
- Light: Wasp, Raptor
- Medium: Chimera, Men Shen
- Heavy: Crusader, Argus
- Assault: Charger, Fafnir

Clan
- Light: Fire Moth (might never happen, though), Fire Falcon
- Medium: Hellhound (the MW4 one), Vapor Eagle
- Heavy: Rifleman IIC, Black Python
- Assault: Blood Asp, Bane, Stone Rhino

And that's it. That's all I need, that's all I ask.

PS: happy extras: Stinger, Vulcan, Ostroc, Excalibur, Longbow, Coyotl, Warhammer IIC, Turkina.

I think it is because alot of the MW4 new mechs were made while the lore was still being written for that time, they were just towards the end of the Civil War and just getting into the Jihad (mech assault). Then shortly after the franchise jumped to the Dark Age (of which we have had no game of this era)

Of course MW4 version. What we got here is.... to put it plainly, an insult to that modeler who first designed this mech 17 years ago.

Yeeeep, a PGI-original, just as i thought.
Not a big fan of it, seems very front-heavy to be honest.

I would've much rather had pretty much any 3025 robbit, but i can't say i'm disappointed. Mostly because i wasn't expecting it to be much anyway.

I did. I hated MW4 when it was released because of how much they deviated from Battletech. But MW4 had greater problems than the new mechs, so...

with dozens of fan favorites still out there? Seems a little premature to start "adding" generic gundams with no history. And had there been forum culture to thsi degree in 2002, you can bet your butt the whining would have gone nuclear.

This. ^

But the new MWO mech is sexy (another masterpiece by Alex Iglesias) and as long as they keep releasing our fan favorites, it's all fine. What would be a nice surprise is if this mech was the first IS omnimech (we don't have perfect options for omni heavy or assault, so the new creation is justified).

Honestly, as I said before, I'm fine with the rare few new chassis from PGI. MW4 did it, and people didn't lose their minds. Might as well allow PGI the same courtesy, with moderation. Once a year isn't too bad.

I only hope, however, that these new mechs actually address tonnage points that we are lacking in. For example, the 60-ton and 95-ton Clan points.

So we only know they invented a new chassis? Anything else?

I don't think we'll know anything else until they officially unveil it at mechcon

I'm just hoping it's not another mech in a highly overpopulated tonnage bracket, like the Roughneck was. (Don't get me wrong though, i like the Roughneck, still pilot it from time to time)

To be fair, the one here is more inline with the TT incarnation of the Uziel.....

I hope it's a 85 tonner.

The thing is, no one cares about the TT incarnation of the Uziel.
It was hammered out as a quick cash-in on the popularity of the machine in the game and not much else.

Exactly. Also, the MW4 version is listed in the variants... but the TRO 3067 version of most of the MW4 mechs were disappointing.

The Chinese copy of the Nova?

Why would you want that if you can get the original (and better) for 10 tons less?

Hrm... Judging from the looks the arm missiles seem to be symmetrical. Given that and the gun barrels of the right arm being a UAC10 it has to be a clan mech. IS couldn't fit that loadout slotwise.
