These are much better and bigger differences than a 5-ton heavier Orion that gives the other team an Atlas.

Well hopefully PGI isn't stupid enough to put another boat mech in.... I wouldn't be surprised though.

But with that kind of logic, the following Mechs should be removed from the game then, right?

Spider, Commando, Jenner
Cicada
Dragon, Catapult
Awesome, Stalker

Woohoo!
A Min/Max game where you have only 1 Mech per class, or only Mechs of the exact same tonnage!

You're right in how people will min/max anything, but you don't design a game around min/maxers.

You're right, but you do balance it against min-maxers.

I shall enjoy the sweet tears of disappointment and rage when the next mech is the Hatamoto-chi instead of the Banshee...

Either would be appreciated.

Just hope the cockpit viewport isn't ridiculously huge and completely out of "character" for the mech like the Orion and Blackjack. :P

I wouldn't mind the Hatamoto-Chi - in fact, I myself made what I feel is a somewhat convincing argument in its favor, in this very thread no less (see here and here). :P

Though, I fully expect there to be a legion of threads focused on people complaining how it's "too Gundam", "too anime", and so on and so forth (while completely missing the point of the 'Mech being specifically and explicitly designed to generally resemble an armored samurai)... <_<

Also, the 'Mech-scale sword isn't invented until 3058, so the shenanigans featured in Critical Hits #13 would be a no-go at this point in the timeline.
Though, if it were to get access to Hatchet, and pretend that it was an ono (an axe- or hatchet-like weapon favored more by Japanese warrior-monks than the samurai, but still used by both)...

BattleMech 20 will be the Zeus!

Inner Sphere News: Wed. Jan 2nd, 3050: Rumors circulate of a “ZEU-6S-DC” model Zeus mounting new, advanced weaponry, undergoing trials. http://mwomercs.com/...isn-news-flash/

I would be happy if it looked just like this in game.

ISN updates aren't indicative of anything. They're just fluff blurbs put out for a daily parity in the timeline.

Oh, and for the record I am not saying it won't be the Zeus, Victor or Charger. I am just saying that it shouldn't be because we already have something that fills the role adequately.

Not necessarily...

Indeed - otherwise, we'd be running around in Maulers, Devastators, Star League-era super-stealth Spectors, and a host of other things that had been mentioned mentioned.

-----

Also: not only are the ISN posts not indicative of in-game content, but the particular post that Maverick quoted is actually in error - it is the ZEU-9S-DC (introduced in 3049) that mounts "advanced weaponry" (an ER-PPC, ERLL, and MPLas - along with a LRM-15 launcher, DHS, FF armor, CASE, and a Command Console), while the ZEU-6S-DC merely sacrifices one standard/single heat sink to accommodate the Dual Cockpit(/Command Console) setup while being otherwise identical to the standard ZEU-6S.

Today is the day!

Banshee, Zeus, Charger, Hatamoto-Chi, Cyclops, Victor or Annihilator: I will be very happy either way.

^ This!

Even the Annihilator was mentioned in ISN News one or two times and we still can't pilot it! I wouldn't bet on the ISN flashs.
Piloting an Annihilator ... I think this will remain a dream, unfortunately.

Go Banshee, gooo!

A wild Imp appears!

The best thing about the new art is the fact we'll be one step closer to another medium.

You awoke extra early today just to post didn't you? (lol) Here is to hoping we are correct regardless of the outcome.
