I somehow don't think that is the case. I still believe they'll stick to the current timeline era so if something isn't available right now or within a year or two (battle of tukkayid) we probably won't see it. However since we do know down the line the clan invasion is coming we could see certain mechs that we've already cut down because their variants were 2 years out.

Basically this, they're probably going to use a soft timeline, and what I mean by that is they'll say "ok we're in this year until X event pushes the time forward." No post Clan Invasion 'mechs till that event hits with nothing pre Tukayyid until that battle hits.

It's better this way for right now, because I know most would rather want quality then sacrificing for speed, even if the Clanners might be let down by it.

That's closer to what I suspect might happen.

For example, something like the Panther, with the third variant slated for 3051, has (IMO) a good chance of being announced earlier (even if it means fudging it by a few months).

By contrast, it is (IMO) still unlikely that something like the Bushwacker or Devastator or Mauler (where the third variant doesn't come along until much later (in 3056, 3058, and 3060, respectively)) or the Uziel (which doesn't even exist in prototype form until 3063) would show up in MWO anytime soon, if ever (unless there is a substantial time-skip).

I asked this question to a dev a while ago. They have thought about this and MIGHT bump up the timeline of production of later, favorite battlemechs. This might have changed over time, but for now it's a possibility to see some of our favorite designs that are made further in the future somewhere down the road. However they will not be skipping ahead to these 'Mechs before they get out the ones they want from the current/past time line.

I hereby revoke my comment about the Victor...
since it is quite fun when having a well rounded setup AND fighting against ppl who do the same

so the Victor can be a beast after all

but:
it´s still no ZEUS™

My VTR-9Surprise has been doing quite well for me, despite claims that brawling is no longer viable. I finally have my 'Roid Raging Giant Centy on a Pogostick I always wanted!

I want an Exterminator first and foremost ever since I read the FedCom Civil War books and Demi Precentor Rudolf Shakov of the 244th ComGuards Div. (The unit that left Comstar to fight alongside Victor Davion) Then also a Wolftrap, Wolfhound and Panther. Hatchetman and Axeman would both be nice even if they don't have working axes.

If there is any kind of Mech I want to see, it would be the Banshee since its the only time-wise, 95-ton Assault mech that can nail the coffin on the Assault class tonnage. The BNC-3E variant isn't a bad mech but it's just the speed that makes it underhanded. If you also look at the other Banshee variants chronologically, you can see how increasingly useful they are becoming in the later eras.

BNC-1E
Introduced:2445
Armament
1x PPC
2x Medium Lasers
1x Small Laser
1x Autocannon/5

This variant proves that the Banshee was fine the way it was. It never should have been tampered with in the first place.

BNC-3E
Introduced:2475
Armament
1x PPC
1x Autocannon/5
1x Small Laser

For this variant, we all know it's the speed that's the problem, but once you reduce that it becomes better. All this variant needs are an appropriate number of hardpoints to compensate for its firepower.

BNC-3M
Introduced:2579
Armament
2x PPCs
2x Medium Lasers
1x Small Laser

This variant is a step in the right direction for improving the Banshee's firepower.

BNC-3S
Introduced:3026
Armament
2x PPCs
4x Medium Lasers
2x Small Lasers
1xAutocannon/10
1x SRM/6

This variant was a massive beast during the 3020's. It shows off the Banshee's true potential when you make the right fixes.

BNC-5S
Introduced:3053
Armament
2x ER PPCs
4x Medium Lasers
2x Small Lasers
1x Gauss Rifle
1x SRM/6

This is a good one too, but we might have to wait for a few years until it comes out.

You know when I saw the Assault Madness Sale and the 79 to 96 tons I couldn't help but take it as a hint to the Banshee.

I don't remember anything from the devs about the Griffin and Wolverine.

About the Banshee, even the BNC-3Q could be usable (6x AC/2 mech).

Completely out of topic, but I must say, I'm in love with my Atlas D-DC...
