Personally, I would not be surprised (at least, not unpleasantly so) id the Clan 'Mechs did not have a steady stream of concept art released (as has been done for the IS 'Mechs), but instead to have their concept art withheld until the Invasion itself started... at which point, the art for all of the Clan 'Mechs that participated in the initial waves of the Invasion would be released as one large batch of pictures.
I think that would be a rather interesting twist on the current trend, as we (the IS at large) would remain in the dark about the appearance of these strange new machines until after they start taking IS worlds...

Also, can the developers really consider not adding iconic mechs, such as: Zeus, Orion, Mauler, UrbanMech???

The Nightstar was originally lost to the Succession Wars (they were all destroyed and there are none left, and no new ones are being built because the original production facility was also destroyed and the designers were killed), and it does not come back into production until around 3057.

They can vary hardpoints as much as they want if you can buy it with cbills
This is true, however I think it stands to reason that they'll be MC only with the hard points of one of the already established variants. It makes sense to make it MC over C-Bill as this is a free to play game, and this fits PERFECTLY with the idea of something that is cosmetic and you have to spend real money to get. It's still available to anyone who wants to pay for it, but it isn't required to play the game nor is it a "premium" 'mech due to it's hard point configuration.
Think Legendary skins from League of Legends. Alters how you look and maybe a little graphic here or there, but it doesn't change how the character plays at all. Pay real money for it, since you can use in game currency to get the character.

That's assuming the "hero mech" will be purchasable with MC only

We hope so!!
If we are, I'm betting on the Blackjack (if medium) or the Victor* (if assault).
* or Cyclops
Here's my short list.
Medium - Dervish (Or Wolverine if they drop the Reseen bomb on us!)
Heavy - Orion
Assault - Same as you, Victor or Cyclops (leaning towards Cyclops)

But thinking well, we really need a fast, agile, crazy hitter medium. In this light, maybe the Dervish would really be better than the Blackjack right now, even if it is poor on variants.
How knows? Let's see in a few hours.

Looks like we will have to wait until (Wednesday, Oct. 17 or 24) for new mech concept art. Hoping for the Mauler or King Crab.

As for why the next 'mech wasn't revealed, unfortunately there's no official timetable on these things. (I'm guessing one will drop next week in addition to big stuff from Open Beta on Tuesday.)
