can't wait to see the mauler..

Same here. Unless they totally reimagine it, it's gonna be BLOATED. pot belly, Massive Shoulder stacks. No XL for you! Meaning good luck doing anything useful with the ballistics. I could be wrong, but seriously, before people beg, have they even remotely thought about the hit boxes?

I made a Mauler at the request of my corp mates yesterday, it was a quick job so I didn't give it unique legs so sorry about that, but I'm sharing it anyway! Gonna keep it brief though since I have to run off somewhere:

Considering those hardpoints, I think is fair.

Vindicator I like ;)

Heavy group: both lancelot and champion would be great

Light: javelin /dervish?

In the NGNG 103 podcast they had Bryan on again. He said they intend to release the Clan mechs 1 at a time so the Uller in June for C-bills. However they currently also intend on releasing new IS chassis along with a Clan every month. They intend to do this as long as economics permit (meaning it's profitable for them to do so).

As far as any hints on the next mech he didn't say. But there was a hint we may go back to the old style system of Light>medium>heavy>assault.

You might. I might. The legions drooling at the thought of their "Ultimate" Assault Mech will howl like gelded surats. The concept of trade offs does not occur to most gamers.

So... Mauler. Well, if we're getting designs which were new when the 3050+ era tech readouts started coming out I always kinda had a soft spot for the...

... Daikyu! ;)

Of course, it apparently has a production year of 3055, so I guess we won't see it for a while, but I'd get one. Heck, I'd even consider buying a hero version, and look, Sarna says there's one available, the DAI-01 Daikyu Tabitha piloted by Tabitha McBane of Lindon's Battalion. I just always liked the look of the Daikyu. Kinda elegant looking despite being a 70 tonner. Would probably have a slim profile from the front, but significantly bigger from the side.

I'm very curious about the variants tough... will they use the Daboku and the Linesman as 2nd and 3rd variants? Or will they drop the XP system?

Doubt they'll drop the XP system. It's too ingrained by now in the way this game works. Maybe they'll make some of their own variants, the way they have with Hero mechs?

It's a 3055 design. Of course they gave it XL. A 350 XL. And CASE. Yep, it's one of those mechs with the protective item which ain't a protective item unless you're playing in an RPG or a longterm campaign. ;) Got an ER PPC and 2 UAC-5 in the arms and an LRM5 and a Medium Laser in the torso, runs 86,4 kph, Endo Steel and 11 DHS already included in the base design and 12 tons of standard armor.

Well, even under current system, all they'll really have to do to include mech with two variants is increasing XP cost for skill unlocks by 50%. Or just double them for chassis with only one viable variant.

There, problem solved ;)

The thing is: they will avoid chassis with only one variant for economic reasons. It might not be worthy to have the trouble to add them.
So I guess they will bring the semi-canonical low tech Mauler variants. I'm OK with that!
