Believe what you will, but it makes too much sense. They didn't release the Griffin until people pointed out that the release dates for them were on the original images. Those are the two months we got now...or rather, they jumped the gun early with the Firestarter and the Banshee because they thought that they had the Griffin and the Wolverine to release in April & May.

And it doesn't make sense that PGI needs the time to finish up their largest and most important package of mech chassis? I think you are leaning on the conspiracy thing a little too much ;)

They may just release the standard variants of new mechs and worry about the hero designs later or possibly a week before the patch. Most likely though they are probably using these two months to catch up on past hero designs

Conspiracy? Not really. They just planned to roll things out Firestarter, Banshee, Griffin, Wolverine. Someone called them on the last two and they had to move things up. This left a hole in their release schedule. That's their mistake (not noticing the original release dates) and it's our problem, not getting new mechs for April & May. Where's the conspiracy?

That's exactly my theory - I guess they wanted to actually do us a favor by bringing two new mechs earlier to give mech-deprived people their Alex-Iglesias-mech-goodness fix, but they didn't predict that pushing Griffin and Wolverine down the line could cause any kind of outrage.

Or they forgot about the dates on the images (just like 99.999% of us did). Still how many months did we go before we got the Ember? I think the last (non-Phoenix) mech before it was the Orion? It came out in September I believe, that's 4 months. Even with the Phoenix mechs (which all launched in October) means they still had 4 months to crank out mechs.

Well, it's almost impossible that Griffin and Wolverine didn't come up when they were making release schedule for Firestarter and Banshee. They just kinda took the risk that playerbase would rather be happy about getting new mechs than angry about delay in getting somewhat old-ish.

Well, they might have some IS mechs done (what they modeled during the Phoenix time, anyway?).

If they have, and if PGI wants some extra coin in April and May, they should release at least one new mech each of these months.

Thing is in an office environment where schedules and deadlines are important I bet there is a central calendar where everything is posted and when they have meeting these things would be written down; so while you, me, others, and possibly Russ may forget when things are supposed to be released, someone there knows the schedule. I highly doubt that if they do not release new mechs this month that it was not planned. What sounds more reasonable is that they released a few mechs early to quell the uprising that was taking place over the lack of apparent progress and the Clan packs. Then they plan to use this time as either a break or to catch up on some backlogged hero designs like the Raven's and the others that do not have a hero variant.

You are making more out of something than is needed, in that you think they intentionally planned to wait an extra two months to release mechs that they already had finished to "make us wait". I think it's a whole lot more logical that someone missed "flipping the switch" and Russ just wasn't paying attention.

Closer, at least.

I don't think they're intentionally making us wait. I'm saying that they planned on dropping the Griffin with the next patch (April 15th) and the Wolverine in 6 weeks (May 20th). Something happened, perhaps it got left off the internal 'schedule', perhaps they originally had it on the 'schedule', changed it to April/May and then forgot to update the images (see here, middle right side, under the 'Standard Pattern/Standard Color' portion. It's an easy thing to miss, I know it's there and it still took me 30 seconds to find it). Who knows? I'm just thinking that they were originally going to drop them in April/May, the Feb patched dropped, people went "wtf mate? Where's the Griffin?" PGI went :D, gave us the mechs and then had a gap in their release.

Or perhaps they've got something else planned. Who knows?

I'm not saying it isn't possible - shoot, they have done a lot more hair-brained stuff than that before - but the explanation Russ gave is just as, if not more, believable. Considering we haven't gotten anything but teaser art on any of the Clan mechs so far, I'd be willing to bet they are still unfinished at this point, lol.

Actually, I've read somewhere that they have working build with Mad Cat in it - and releasing anything more than concept are just before scheduled date would be consistent with what they've been doing with, for example, Phoenix mechs.

But I agree, probably some of them are still unfinished.

I guess I just don't see how the two cases are mutually exclusive. They could need the time to work on the Clan mechs and have allocated their resources to getting them out. Part of that was using the Sabre mechs for their April/May mechs. When people pointed out that they were supposed to be the February/March mechs it was too late to hold back the Firestarter & Banshee so they just don't have anything for the next two months. Mech releases will resume in June/July.

Believe whatever you want, but I don't think it is as nefarious as you do. They have a HARD deadline to have 8 new chassis with 24 different layouts completely ready by June 17th - they can't punch that back like they can with a lot of other releases, so I am glad they are focusing on them instead of continuing to push out new mechs in addition to them.

It could be fun if they finally get MASC up and running. Lights would become even more of a terror though. It'd be nice to see other mechs get it too. Wolverine with MASC would be interesting to see.

Don't forget we're still waiting for the Cataphract 3L as well; it is officially announced, just waiting for MASC.

Some variants were left behind. We hope they will be added someday.

- Catapult CPLT-K3 (upgraded K2, not much room for hardpoint maneuver)
- Commando COM-1C (unique variant with ballistics)
- Dragon DRG-1G (all energy + missile variant, still unique despite the Flame)
- Dragon DRG-5K or (even better) Dragon DRG-5K-DC (stock Command Console, so maybe ECM capability) - actually Grand Dragons, but...
- Hunchback HBK-4N (interesting ballistics + missiles variant)
- Hunchback HBK-5M (upgraded 4G, not much room for hardpoint maneuver)
- Jenner JR7-A (not going to happen, as 6 energy harpoints in one location would be weird)
- Cataphract CTF-3L (MASC!)
- Cicada CDA-3F (is it already 3052? because I want my jumping Cicada!)
- JagerMech JM6-B (created by MW2:M but sort of canonized ever since. JM with energy + missiles and no ballistics!)
- Raven RVN-1X (bulky and older EW equipment that could be replaced by ECM and Beagle, with some free tons for... armor?)
- Raven RVN-3X (1X with Triple Strength Myomer)
- Spider SDR-7M (upgraded 5V, not much room for hardpoint maneuver)
- Trebuchet TBT-5S (TBT with 4 missile hardpoints, but less tubes)
- Stalker STK-3Fb (Stalker with ECM! SLDF Royal exclusive, but the HGN-732b got in, so...)
- Locust LCT-1S, Locust LCT-1Vb, Locust LCT-1L (TSM), Locust LCT-3D (swarm!)
- Blackjack BJC-1DB, Blackjack BJ-3X (hardpoint conundrum)
- Blackjack BJ-2 (only in 3052...)
- Kintaro KTO-19b (SLDF Royal)
- Shadow Hawk SHD-2HB
- Wolverine WVR-7M, WVR-7D
- Griffin GRF-1DS
- Thunderbolt TDR-7M
- Victor VTR-9A, Victor VTR-9A1 (OMG, please!)
- Firestarter F59-S1 (stock ECM)
- Banshee BNC-3MC (BNC-3E with 1 more ballistics and 1 less energy?)
- Banshee BNC-3Q (imagine a BNC-3E without weapons in the right torso and 3 more ballistics in the left torso)
- Banshee BNC-5S (armed to the teeth, but only in 3053)
