Quick fact-check: He isnt one.

Interesting. He was in all threads I'd previously seen him in.

And, I was on my last mech. The other three were dead in failed assaults. "Failure to engage" went by the boards the instant I fired my first shot or moved past the gate. Nice try.

This is why we have a chat function. So that we can ask if they will re-engage the enemy or do some other action to accomplish our objective. I am not supporting location callouts without reason every time someone shuts down.

You don't have the right to call it out in any case. You're just being defiant because you don't want to wait for all the other players to finish their match before you get your gamer treat.

Boo hoo.

And before you keep posting so you can get the last word in... the rule is quite clear as is its intention. Anyone who argues it isn't is just being intentionally thick.

If I didn't want to wait, I would disconnect. This is about preventing the surviving players on the enemy team (who cannot disconnect) from wasting their time, and about protecting them from griefers who would see their time wasted. The rule's intention is to prevent griefing, not preventing the valid tactic of shutting down to further the fight. I suggest that you re-read the rest of the thread to get an understanding of what we are talking about. I am not still posting to get the last word in, I am still posting in an attempt to get it into your thick skull that griefing of this sort is bad and against the spirit of the game.

Dear Kjdblahblahblah, we fleshed out the tactics of this in the other thread and it seemed to end at this:

If the enemy is beating you so hard that you think to turn to these tactics, then you are either equal in numbers or you have inferior numbers as you would otherwise not be losing due to ghost drops. In this case, there is no purpose in delaying.

If you have superior numbers, are currently winning, the ceasefire is close, and yet you are still doing this cheese, this may speed you to eleven points, and I admit that you are correct in that it is marginally valuable. However the outrage comes from the fact that you are already winning and therefore have no need to play dirty to accomplish your objective. The clans already stand on an uneven footing with us personnel wise. In the interest of playing fair, we should not exacerbate the problem in this way.

Tactically sound, but as I said yesterday, bad sportsmanship. You are right. I do not care about you or your attempts for victory as you and all your time-wasting ilk are bad sportsmen who I would rather not see playing this game.

Last time I checked, willfully breaking the rules is a sign of poor sportsmanship.

Please stop accusing me of having poor character and just move on. :)

It's not an accusation. It is a fact. If you power down and hide on skirmish, while losing on conquest, or on assault, [I believe you] are a man of poor character. Sportsmanship goes above and beyond the rules of the game. If you would like some examples of how to be a good sport, I suggest you use google [Redacted]

Some of you guys are making this too complicated. If you are hiding and not participating, shut down or not, and there's no reason (such as letting the clock tick down to 750 points, setting up an ambush, etc), I'm giving away your position. I don't care if you were the star of the match or you did 10 damage and then hid. Fight to the end or don't queue up. You owe your teammates that much.

Hold on. When they hit the button to "Play Now" they did so understanding that the fight could be from 0-15 minutes long. No matter what a person does they can not extend the match beyond the time the enemy agreed to play to. You signed up for 15 minutes.

You owe your teammates nothing more or less than their game time. If they lose all their weapons or face a suicide rush or just like playing hide and go seek, then it's their choice how to spend their time. The rule is meant to stop people from betraying them and thus disrupting their play. The scenario you describe above is Team Treason. It's against the rules, and if you do it there may be consequences if you're reported.

That's really all there is to it. If you don't like it, ask PGI to change.

Even though statspadders are bad and should be insta-banned when shutting down for the sole purpose of keeping their kdr up, why not just disconnect and go to the next match?

What if I'm actively trying to skill up the mech I was using in that game? Disconnecting won't help get that mech into the next match because it is locked until that match ends. What if I need to modify that mech before the next match? Can't, it's locked.

Well serial... you can play Judge Judy and executioner all you want, but the only one who is going to get in trouble is the one committing team treason and griefing others with teamkills and bad acting for refusing to play well with others who aren't obeying a little tyrant not getting their instant gratification.

Great holy mother of s***...

The expression is "judge, jury, and executioner"... The ignorance is astounding.

It's a joke from Danny Butterman in the movie Hot Fuzz. Thanks for the laugh.

Yeah, because everyone is required to spend all their lives watching movies? Whatever, guy. You're correct, it's my fault for not memorizing the lines to a 7 year old comedy that I never gave enough of a crap about to watch.

This is the problem when what is essentially a "war" game is treated as eSports, causing me to exclaim:

**** eSports!

This is a war game. As such, I will use the nastiest, sneakiest, and most underhanded tactics I can think of as long are they are within the rules established by PGI. Sportsmanship be damned.

This is war!

I'm not the one acting childish here. I am addressing childish entitlement mentality. But you believe what you want. I'm done talking to you.

When your arguments devolve to movie quotes, yes, you are.
