What Did I Miss? (Ecm)

What did I miss?
I thought the "Magic Jesus Box" was considered to be the single most OP thing in the game. Did it get replaced by some other thing to complain about? Did the BAP buff (and subsequent nerf) somehow end the discussion?
Or is it that we've given up discussing changing electronic warfare in MWO, and have just taken every last entire team backstab due to ECM better?
ECM still feels overpowered from my point of view. However, this is just an opinion, and I wanted to know others' opinions on the device.
thanks!

You'd be surprised at what pugs can and can't do.
Lack of paper dolls means that damaged body parts/mechs are less likely to get focused down. The lack of doritos slows down the reaction time of most people (at least in the Underhive where I reside) during peek-and-shoot contests and it makes focus fire less likely to occur (the pug overmind reacts very strongly when a red dorito pops up, as if by natural instinct). Trolling LRM boats is just a cherry on top.

yea but in CW you are just as likely to run into a bunch of pugs as you are a group of competitive players. Then it doesn't matter as much.

Against comp players there isn't much you can do against other than gitting gud and getting on their level.

even just a regular 6-man who just chat but isn''t competitive, they are probably going to wreck your day. to be honest I wouldn't bother with ECM outside of PUG games. In CW there is too much of a risk. I'd rather bring another ton of ammo, a medium laser, or a heatsink over ECM usually.

This is also a reason ECM is not as good as people think. Not only was C/BAP is buffed, but a misconception of what it can do affects its use. SSRM and LRM boats equip B/CAP thinking it speeds up their lock on times. This means that plenty of builds will use it thinking it does something different, but inevitably will counter their biggest counter.
