when you sign into the forums there will be a blue button saying download now up near the top right of the page, click this it downloads the patcher, install this then click patch, it will then download and patch the game, this will take a while as you are downloading about 5GB, after it finishes patching the patch button will change to a play button, there are new patches every 2 weeks (on average).

To log in you open the client and let it patch if it needs too, then just log in. After that the game will give you a tutorial. Simple as that.
