Hi

During last game, my team launched 5 UAVs...
Each one is killed in seconds !

So...

How do they do that ?

Is there a clue when an ennemy uav is upon you or something is very weird ?

People are just more aware of them. Once you know what to look for they're easy to spot.

Best way I've found to launch them is to run through the enemy group and pop one above them. Not too many mechs can look straight up.

Yup, there is, it's as simple as someone looking up in the air and spotting it, it glows a bright blue and has low damage resistance.

All of what has been said above...^^^^ And don't worry about it getting shot down they are mostly used to verify numbers anymore..rather than as a tool for LRM's...If one stays up long enough o lock LRM targets take it as icing on the cake. You should rather be looking at the group you just illuminated to make sure they are all there or to verify that its only a partial group. So you can decide your next course of action based off the tactical situation.

Bohemian Missile Rhapsody

Is this the real life? (How are they getting a lock?)
Is this just fantasy? (Am I out of line of sight?)
Caught in a landslide (of Missiles Incoming)
No escape from reality; (that LRMs are raining on my head)
Open your eyes (and experience the nausea)
Look up to the skies and see (the enemy UAV)

Yea, getting rained by LRM when you are out of sight is a sure way to know you should look up ^^

In pure solo pug matches I don't see them get shot down as much as I do in the group queue. So if you are a missile spamming LRM boat, you're more likely to see them last in solo queue.

Exactly. I'm addicted of UAVs for that kind of legit wallhack:
- LRM helper of course
- "preshoot" that mech crawling from his cover
- give the team life-saving intel like breaking an ennemy surprise flank
- ruin ECM-mech life (when under UAVs, ECM able mechs are often primaried... if your team is smart enough
- search for cored targets without LOS in order to finish them
- ...

UAVs is my swiss army knife. So if people know how to shoot them quickly, its very bad news for me ;-)

PS:

I don't play lurms often. I dont like that weapon and dont like heavy/assault mechs.

For the moment, i only play with my beloved zombie stormcrow. Best mech of da game IMHO.
Its agile, its fast, it has high torso mount (PPCS above cockpit <3), it can almost 360° torso turn, front side hitboxes are cheated and side arms protect the torso, the invasion avr has a 30% c bill bonus, waiting queue is shorter, the hardpoints allow great versatility and you have acces to funniest weapon of the game: streak srm6 XD. The only think lacking IMHo is dual balistic points on arms to put machine guns alongside with erppcs builds.

Facing a team that are good shots.. why the hell does everyone call hack/cheating when things don't go how they think they should, UAV's are not that difficult to shoot down, once seen

i am a dedicated UAV hunter. mainly to save my own butt because i tend to have a huge sign with *fire lrms here* above me...

i can be in the most *useless* mechs (trebuchet, dragon) with dire wolves or king crabs or even timber wolves next to me, i am the one that gets lurmed -.-

i shall hunt all your UAV's (and the missile boats afterwards.)

I always keep an eye out for Mechs popping them, and I always shoot them down quickly.

you can see them when launched
there is a sound made when they are launched that you can hear if you're close enough to the mech that launches it
teas with just a little situational awareness watch for them and kill them as quickly as possible

I know how to spot UAVs when in thesky, but never heard that sound nor saw them flying from the mech.

Thanx anyway.

you have to be close to hear the sound...
when you launch one yourself, you hear that sound....just listen carefully when near enemies and you can hear it
and when launched, they leave a little trail as they are flying up....not always easy to see (especially when using thermal vision) but its there

If you're right under them (within 200m, I think) they actually show up on your radar and can be targeted.

Further out, you can't target them but you CAN see them bobbing up and down in the sky. I always look out for them, and take great joy in swatting them out of the air!

As soon as a light runs anywhere near my main group, I back up or swing to the side to do a UAV check. Even in PUG drops.

It's THE Thing to do for most lights. Skim the leading edge, and pop a UAV. I am actually surprised when a Light does this and NO Uav goes up.

Bright blue dot shoots skyward out of an enemy mech? Look up, check rangefinder, fire laser, pow. Dead UAV. Takes like 2 seconds if you're on the ball.

Quicker you blam them, the sooner the helpless folks on your team without radar dep stop getting rekt by LRMs.
