Hi all. Looking for a CW friendly hero(s) from the following list, I cut the ones I already own. I tend to enjoy more mobile mechs rather than tanks, and I own more light heros than anything else. Have 5000 mc to spend and plenty of mechbays for parking (or I can free them up as needed).

CENTURION CN9-YLW YEN-LO-WANG 3750 - 35% = 2437 MC <--- already have 3 cents. Not sold that YLW is different enough than the others.

DRAGON DRG-FANG FANG 4500 - 35% = 2925 MC <--I want to buy a 1-N, interested

DRAGON DRG-FLAME FLAME 4500 - 35% = 2925 MC <--I want to buy a 1-N, interested

COMMANDO COM-TDK THE DEATH KNELL 1875 - 35% = 1218 MC

AWESOME AWS-PB PRETTY BABY 6000 - 35% = 3900 MC

CICADA CDA-X5 THE X5 3000 - 35% = 1950 MC

HIGHLANDER HGN-HM HEAVY METAL 6750 - 35% = 4387 MC

STALKER STK-HERO MISERY 6375 - 35% = 4143 MC <-- squadmates tell me this is great for CW. Been interested in stalkers, but not certain if they fit my style.

VICTOR VTR-DS DRAGON SLAYER 6000 - 35% = 3900 MC <--was interested in victors before they got nerfed into the ground. Are they good again?

KINTARO KTO-GB GOLDEN BOY 4125 - 35% = 2681 MC

ORION ON1-HERO PROTECTOR 5625 - 35% = 3656 MC

ATLAS AS7-BH BOAR'S HEAD 7500 - 35% = 4875 MC <-- have 3 atlases already, not very interested. Didn't enjoy them much

CATAPULT CPLT-HERO JESTER 4875 - 35% = 3168 MC

JENNER JR7-HERO OXIDE 2625 - 35% = 1706 MC<-- I did not enjoy the trial jenner for some reason. Bad cockpit maybe?

HUNCHBACK HBK-HERO GRID IRON 3750 - 35% = 2437 MC

BANSHEE BNC-HERO LA MALINCHE 7125 - 35% = 4631 MC

QUICKDRAW QKD-IV4 IVY FOUR 4500 - 35% = 2925 MC

BLACKJACK BJ-HERO ARROW 3375 - 35% = 2193 MC

SPIDER SDR-HERO ANANSI 2250 - 35% = 1462 MC

BATTLEMASTER BLR-1GHE HELLSLINGER 6375 - 35% = 4143 MC <--have 3 BLR's already, not wild about them

VINDICATOR VND-1SIB ST. IVES' BLUE 3375 - 35% = 2193 MC

GRIFFIN GRF-HERO SPARKY 4125 - 35% = 2681 MC

LOCUST LCT-PB PIRATE'S BANE 1500 - 35% = 975 MC<-- almost seems like a no-brainer to get this.

SHADOWHAWK SHD-GD THE GRAY DEATH 4125 - 35% = 2681 MC <--have 3 SHD's already, I enjoy them, don't know that I need a 4th.

DO NOT TRY THE PRETTY BABY IN CW!
I did and gave up.

I have seen Sparkys, Miserys, Pirate Banes, think a Yen-Lo-Wang once, Grid Irons (even tried it but you need Gauss + MPL and have to be a good Gauss user).

There may have been others but those are the ones I remember.

Good list you have there.

I want to say that the hellslinger is a bit of a unique mech due to the 50% heat reduction from enviroment, This means you will be colder on the Sulfur map in CW but a tiny bit hotter on Borreal, (However the thing is certain planets gives you only 1 map and in the future you can focus on dropping in heat only maps with it)

The battlemaster also has a hidden 'quirk'. It's immune to flamers (which isn't much as they are UP, however there is a buff expected in january), and also they are immune to lava. Meaning they can fight in the lava in Terra therma without gaining extra heat (from the last time I tested it. Maybe it's my build with all the heatsinks that made it lava resistant with the 50% reduction on top)

I run it stock+ with a few upgrades and stuff. I quite love it.

I'm interested in the Malinche, I've heard mixed reviews. I also would like to get the DS, but from what I've seen victors are in need of a little buffing.

For what it's worth the Pirate's Bane is great fun. The best part about it is the ECM. Nobody pays attention to Locusts and the PB is even more stealthy with the ECM.

Decent weaponry too for a 20 tonner.

Try the Grey Death with LRM's and MPL. Some heat issues but its okay. Good escort, lrm harasser build IMO.

Any opinion on the Dragon Slayer? Is it worth getting now with the sale going on?

No. Like the Ember, its reign was terrible, but has ended.

I have some MC to burn and I'm looking at possibly adding another hero mech to my stable, preferably something in the medium-heavy range. Problem is, after reading through the different ones, I've come to the conclusion that most are inferior to standard variants in that same chassis.

I already own the following:

Pirates' Bane
Ember
Oxide
Yen Lo Wang
Grid Iron
Sparky
Jester
Firebrand
Ilya Muromets
Dragon Slayer
Misery
Hellslinger
Heavy Metal

As I mentioned, I'm looking for something in the medium/heavy weight class range, but the problem is that according to everything I've read and everything I can see, I already own all of the only hero mechs worth buying (which apparently there aren't many of), and the others appear to be actually inferior to many of their standard variant counterparts, especially since the quirks were implemented. Am I missing anything here? Are the IV-Four, X-5, Protector, Arrow, St. Ives Blue, Loup De Guerre, and Gray Death even worth looking at? Or should I just spend my MC on camo patterns and warhorns?

Arrow and Huginn are the "obviously missing" 'mechs from your list. Arrow is vicious, despite what some may say here. And after the quirk passes, Huginn is one of the most dangerous lights in the game, especially against heavies/assaults.

X-5 all the way. I love it... Also, consider the jester if you like the laser vomit play style.
