So I ended up buying a blackjack 1 after watching a video of someone messing around with the champion build and it looked fun, and it has been a great little mech, and in the interests of getting more blackjacks so I can spend exp into making the ones I already have better I was trying to decide what to get next.I've only got a few mechs and they all rely on ballistics, and the BJ-1X's quirks looked interesting.
Are LPLs workable? Or are there more viable builds on the blackjack? Or maybe the BJ-1X isn't that good and another variant is a better investment.
This build seemed to be okay BJ-1X Only problems I can see is that it runs hot and I dislike having to manage heat, and that having ferro fibrous in addition to DHS and Endo steel means that I can't swap out for anything that uses more hardpoints, plus it might not be fast enough (although a 265 beats the pants off the 235 in my current blackjack)
I'm open to giving up on blackjacks and going down another mech path as well, the hunchback seems to have some cool things going for it (although no JJs which is sad because those are fun to mess around with on certain maps)

Here's two BJ-1x's that I frequently use. Both are plenty heat efficient. Try em out!
BJ-1X - Wubjack

BJ-1X Zapjack

I levelled the -1, -3, -1X and the Arrow. I found the -1x to be kinda meh even with the higher engine, I ran it mostly as a fast ML boat with TAG. The -3 I used 2x LPL's, 2x ML with max engine and found it to be quite effective. This was before the quirkening btw, If the -1X has quirks for it, I would gladly recommend the LPL.
looking at your build though, i would suggest ditching ferro-fibrous armor and dropping a single LPL or some of the ML's instead and add heatsinks.
I would suggest not picking up the Arrow, it was amusing but after playing with it for a long time, I find it to be too limited. I would also suggest against the -1DC, the extra energy hardpoints are low in the torso's, and it has no jumpjets. Jumpjets are one of the Blackjack's few advantages. I ended up selling off the -1X, the lack of jumpjets and bulky humanoid frame made it an easy decision.
The -1 however is my most played mech by a large margin. I love it and currently play it with the stock weapons loadout of 2x ac2, 4x ML. While levelling I also used a 2x ERLL, 2x MG, 2x ML build fairly often.

The 3 is a really good, but HOT PPC jumpsniper.
Just stay out of the line of fire and alternate between chainfire and double strikes as heat allows.

I would never put ferro on a Blackjack. The 1X has the hardpoints to boat so I don't see the point of using LPLAS over mlas. 13 DHS would never be adequate anyway.
If you are building around a 265XL either forgo endo and boat or add a pair of LLAS for a mixed ranged build. Perhaps a splas/LPlas build would be workable as well.

"The Wubbajack" BJ-1x build that works best for me is 2 large pulses and 2 medium pulses. Max engine. Be careful on the three hot maps but you should be fine if you don't get into extended engagements (which you shouldn't be doing in a Blackjack anyway)
.
I've never really been able to find a BJ-3 build I like, its just plain too hot.
The Bj-1 that I like the best is the Gaussjack, Gauss Rifle, 3 medium lasers, 2-3 tons of gauss ammo, max engine, 2 jumpjets.
