Hi all mechwarriors out there,
nice to meet you all!
I've start this game from middle of last month, till now i've played over 100 matches, mostly i din't do really well as i din't understand my role much on different mechs and usually end up dead
Sorry for the people who had fought together with me and loss >.<" as i always tried to ambush enemy from the back but end up dead
Currently i am trying to mastering my kitfox mech, is there any advice for this mechs? I've read quite a few forums about it's builds, but in most matches i don't do well, especially when i bump into assault mech, i end up dead in 5 secs.
And also there is another question. About Targeting computers.
Is it very effective on improving the lasers range? Because although in the description it did mention about it, but when i installed in the mech and tried in the game, i din't felt much difference. is it good idea to have one on a mech?
The kitfox is best used as a long range weapons platform, in fact the Inner Sphere forces that fought it named it "Uller" after the norse god of archery. Because the Kitfox would kill you from extreme range, with accurate fire.
Another role it serves is as escort. Using the ECM arm, with 3xAMS to make sure no LRM boats will ever have fun attacking your friends.
It's not a brawling mech, it's used to help the bigger ones survive for a longer time than they ever should.
One of my Configurations for it uses Streak SRM4s, with ECM, and ERMLs. Mainly I escort Assault mechs, and help them kill lights that harass them (2xSSRM4s are very scary to lights).
KFX-PRIME
That's a basic escort/light killer set up.
Never leave your group (unless you're running an ECM sniper set up, and since the KFX is slow, I don't advise it.). Always stay with them, as your contribution will be significantly better for the team that way.

Some quick things before you start to tinker with your mechs and all:
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/ Smurfy will save a lot of time in your process of making builds.
As mallin has said, the Kit Fox is a support mech and not meant to be a frontliner. You will want ECM and triple AMS in most cases, but JJs are similarly important, and builds rely on a bit of firepower to support a stronger more durable mech.
JJs are hardwired.
EDIT:
ABOUT TARGETING COMPUTERS
Targeting computers increase the range by a small percentage on your weapons.
So if the laser had a range of 200, it would become 210. Nothing big, but it makes a difference.
