They could give the Mechs that normally have MASC a speed quirk, like +(Whatever)% top engine speed to equate to what the engine can do with MASC, and not have to implement a crazy system.

Its fun to hunt heavies and assaults on the locust that's why. You don't run them to do amazing you run them to go really stupidly fast and disappear at the mention of cover. It is infuriating for the other guy. I watched a 5 spl locust kill 2 timberwolves without moving more than 5 meters to either side. I almost died laughing... He dodged every shot from 50 meters away...

The last update was "Not possible currently due to the Engine not being able to handle speeds that high". I have a feeling it may never happen. CW and UI Tweaks are currently a higher priority than MASC (IMHO)

MASC isn't supposed to be constant speed though, and it's supposed to be risky (Your mech can stop moving if it blows). It also takes up slots.

Some call it OP yet only few realize that MWO uses run speed while MASC apply it's "OP" bonuses to walk speed.

"The player declares that he is using the MASC system and immediately rolls 2D6 (before the ’Mech moves).
On a result of 3 or higher, the ’Mech can run that turn at a speed equal to double its standard Walking MP." - Total Warfare, pg. 137

Basically, a MASC-equipped 'Mech's running speed goes from {1.5*(Cruise/Walk MP)} to {2.0*(Cruise/Walk MP)} when the system is active (and assuming the 'Mech has not taken any damage to its leg actuators).
In other words, any MASC-equipped 'Mech's top speed increases by ~33% when the system is active (again, assuming the 'Mech has not taken any damage to its leg actuators).

That is, a 'Mech that moves at 120 kph (which some of the playerbase seems to consider "slow" for Light 'Mechs ) with the Engine alone would be able to push/break 160 kph (fast enough to induce "lag shielding" & other effects) with MASC installed & active.
Now, imagine what a 'Mech with a base top speed of 140-150 kph could do with MASC (which would boost its top speed to 186-200 kph)...

Because it isn't in the game and if they ask for it and it then turns up they can feel all special and go "I did that!" whilst getting squished.

Plus some of us may like the idea of trophy mechs that we ride around in when we don't feel like getting visited by the ejection fairy. Or people can actually play those"doa"mechs well and score with them anyway.
Id like a Flea and Uribe, my dune buggy and my toy battlemech (from hell). Plus the 15 ton jump capable flea could possibly be played with to be 20 ton legal as they wanted it to be with just core tt (why they made it 15 instead of just building around a 20t chassis outside lore well never make sense to me)...
I mean we could get the thorn...
...
Are there any other timeline allowed non unseen 20 tonners?
*grabs sarna

Serious thoughts on MASC:
I'd figure something like a heat bar that rises fast, say over 5 seconds, then every 3 seconds(more or less to balance) that the system is active will randomly do 1-10% leg structure damage. Armor is ignored as it's internal. Disables if a leg is destroyed. Shutdown will cool down the system over 5 seconds (simulating the use turn by turn in tt)
Use in small bursts to avoid damage, or throw it on and charge til your legs come off.

Edit: mah phones naughty today

Thorn is doable, More Locust variants would be nice (especially with the introduction of Rocket Launchers) and Hornet would be fine.
The Wasp would be a maybe.

With the addition of Masc, we could comfortably get the Flea, Mercury and Firemoth too.

Otherwise, it's all quite a ways off.

I'd buy any and all that were released though. :)

Might make something of a joke slow light like the current Clan lights do. 20 tonners on the other hand are usually easy to splat and only exist as tonnage placeholders in CW dropdecks.

Exactly. Why do IS pilots continually ask for mechs that are going to suck? ;)

While I can't speak for everyone that want's them, for some reason, I don't suck in the Locust / Spider

I do in most Assaults.
I do in probably half the Heavies I own.
I can't get along with almost all mediums. (Literally, around 2 specific variants, not even whole mechs. 1 Vindicator, 1 style of Stormcrow)
Lights? I'm good at, especially Locusts.

Logically, more 20T frames could only be good for me. ;)

(I keep wanting to like Cicadas too... logically I should be fine in them. Maybe I should buy a 3C to see if I have any more luck in that....)

If the Flea breaking the game is keeping us from having the slower MASC equipped mechs, why not just put it on the back burner and release the Shadow Cat and Executioner?

Said it before, saying it again: two things I most want to be in this game:

Marauder. (shimmering sword's, please)

Firemoth. (even if it was capped at 178kph and MASC didn't work on it)
