The ups:

It's Mechwarrior.
Mechs are great.
Mechs are awesome.
Game feels just like playing MW4 all over again, but with Cryengine!
The lasers, ballistic and missile weapons all look and sound great.
Mechs all have their own unique engine noises.

The downers:

Game seriously needs more maps.
Why only 12 Mechs per team? This isn't 2004.
Income really sucks after 25 matches.
Buildings aren't destructible.
There doesn't seem to be any visible scarring or damage left on the buildings or terrain?
"Incoming missiles" becomes tedious after a few hours.
The game needs some PvE content. Even MW4 LAN had co-op missions against the bots.
Game throws you onto the maps randomly. Can't pick which map to play on.
You have to fight against veterans from day one. I wouldn't mind playing against/with other cadets at first.

But, GG so far. Enjoying it until the maps become ultimately tedious.

It does become tedious unfortunately. but its the kindve game you can quit for a few months then start playing again, and its fun again, at least for a while.

-the old maps and gamemodes need serious revamping
-role warfare and skill system also need serious revamping
-cbill earnings probably need to be increased slightly

now that CW is out of the way hopefully they can focus on those other neglected aspects of the game

This game needs serious PVE content. But it took them 3 years to come up with a two map, 3 mode (1 being a repeat) CW for the big team players.

So as much as it is seriously needed. It gets shot down pretty quick cause that would take away from possibly a third CW map in the next year.

See what I mean, A team mission mode and a few missions would do wonders for the monotony of the long grind. But...

In other news, they DID say they were going to look into it.

As a game developer that works on a popular F2P MMO, I strongly begged to differ. B)

Actually it took them 3 years to build all of the mechanics and enough mechs to have IS versus Clans. They clearly haven't been working on CW the last few years. Perhaps the last six months.

I disagree. We have a comfortable range of maps. About a quarter of those need a serious revamp though. All of them need a revamp of spawns and bases as well.

Why only 12 Mechs per team? This isn't 2004.

Cryengine 3.xx. It's really bad for multiplayer.

Quote

Income really sucks after 25 matches.

Yes it does. Come 2015 PGI promised to take care of these construction sites, as well as new player experience and some balance and gameplay issues.

Quote

Buildings aren't destructible.

Cryengine 3.xx. They should've really used a different engine, but it is what it is. We may get some destructible stuff in the future, but no promises.

Quote

There doesn't seem to be any visible scarring or damage left on the buildings or terrain?

We had some of those textures for buildings a time back, but they took it out again. Don't know what the reason was, though.

Quote

"Incoming missiles" becomes tedious after a few hours.

Well, she's called "Bitching Betty" for a reason.

Quote

The game needs some PvE content. Even MW4 LAN had co-op missions against the bots.

I disagree, but I'm not against it. But I want the multiplayer part fixed before they develop an AI, as that's not easy.

Quote

Yes, and that is good. It forces you to fit your mechs to work in all environments, and it prevents the de_dust syndrome.

Quote

You have to fight against veterans from day one. I wouldn't mind playing against/with other cadets at first.

As I said, better new player experience is coming.

I do too! :)

However, I also want PVE content. The best games, or rather, my favorite games have a good balance of PVE and PVP.

That way, you get your immersion needs and your competitive urges sated.

LOL, we know that, but remember they promised CW in closed beta, open beta, at launch, after launch.

And now finally have a beta of it. The guys waiting for it do not want it derailed by anything else. And PVE would probably do that since they cannot multitask very well.

Tell that to Path of Exile or Neverwinter or Star Trek Online or SWTOR or Rift or...well, I'm sure there's more, but you get the point.

Thats totally different. An MMO is designed to be PVE from the start.

MWO was designed to be a PVP game from the start. So adding PVE would be very costly. And Adding PVE content and charging money for PVE packs goes against free 2 play.

Its never gonna happen. And honestly I dont want it to. I would rather have solid PVP than half-finished PVP and PVE.

It doesn't really contradict each other. Warthunder offers Coop PVE as well. That said, I don't want them to waste time on stuff like this as long as there are construction sites in the main part of the game.

Well if they treated it like a different game. Hired a small team that builds up the structure of the Campaign packs. Then swap in the right people to complete it. It could be possible to have both. If they sell each pack then it can be profitable to keep producing them. Especially with all of the map assets they've built up and they don't have to build new mechs for each pack.

Hearthstone, Path of Exile and an assortment of other games disagrees with this statement.

Actually, Russ hinted plans to add PvE.
