The Nova has always been my favourite Clan omnimech; naturally, it was the first one I purchased and mastered once I returned to MWO. My personal thoughts:

1. I would like to see an armor buff for the arms, and possibly the side torsos. More for the arms, though.
2. A turn speed quirk, as well as a torso twist quirk, would help it spread damage much better, in the right hands.
3. A weapon convergence speed quirk would also be nice, as its arms are very wide-spread.
3. A reduction in heat would be nice, but I am concerned this would be overkill; this mech was famous for its low profile and maneuverability; this, IMHO, is where the focus should be.

Just my 2 C-Bills.

EDIT: Shrinking the model slightly might be a good move as well; it *is* rather large, compared to some other mechs in its weight class.

Agreed on that. The Side Torsos are easy to hit, sadly.

This is definitely needed. One thing people don't quite realize is putting weapons on the side torsos actually reduce the torso twist speed... and they really become slow as the heavies that run @ those speeds. This is rather problematic actually. The Nova-S is worse because the CT AMS slot reduces the torso twist quirk.

The magical convergence netcode makes this obsolete actually.

Well, the Nova-B's Left Arm needs this as it serves no real role (if not in an odd role in the first place).

Maneuverability is better... but it could be far better than it currently is.

That is unlikely to happen. Sorry.

I have not played in about a year; could you please elaborate?

You guys are smoking crack. The Nova isn't so bad it needs those massive buffs. Its still better than 80% of IS mechs.

There's instant convergence; it takes no time at all for all weapons to converge on a pixel.

Not really. Compared to a Hunch, it's slightly worse actually.

20% would be a good number, I think. Along with some more diversified Omnipods. It's Tier 3ish. Possibly 4, but it does have a deadly short range niche, at the expense of high heat.

LOL, deadly short range niche, that is the worst place to have high heat issues....

Yes, but you can outbrawl Crabs with 12 ERSLs or SPLs.

It's a dual gauss on each arm, which you can sustain for around 200 damage. That kills most things fast. It's a glass cannon.

The average King Crab would annihilate two novas by itself without much effort.

Obviously not; I've facetankted them and won.

The Nova doesn't lack firepower. It's just big, and fragile. It will win a brawl. One brawl, maybe two. But a decisive win.

I think Nova could be really good with some mobility and armor quirks but not energy.
I took mine for a ride after the -10% energy heat.

Results?
Spoiler

Ofc I don't do it every match, sometimes you do something wrong and you die with only 100-300 dmg.
I normally do 400-700 dmg with my 2 favoriter builds:
12xSPL + 4 DHS (< I prefer this one [even with short range])
6xMPL + 4 DHS

-------------------------

I played 1v1 with a friend and did really well against low speed targets (JJ+89kph is awesome).
But against some fast mediums (Shadowhawk) it's really hard but you can do it.

..Was the pilot asleep? An AC/40 KGC can nearly oneshot one of your gorilla arms and take half of your firepower with it. It CAN oneshot the arms if it has any SRMs with it.

48>40

Unless he scores 3 crits, it stays. There's also JJs and big legs. Those absorb damage

The Nova is by no means a good robot, but it's not trash tier. It corner peeks very well, and can jump where most mechs cannot(due to 5 forced JJs).

People often underestimate just how much damage a Nova can do up close. 72 damage in just over a second. It can do that 3-5 times.

That rivals the Crab. Pilot skill does have a factor, which the PUG queue doesn't seem to equalise very well.

This is what happens when the Doomcrow chops off the Hunchback-4P's hunch and uses it as its new claw arm.

So, all the perks that can be unlocked for convergence are just wasted XP? I could have sworn there was a slight delay when shifting from long to short range. Interesting; thank you for clarifying that.

Presently, yes it is a waste and placeholder.

It used to do something.

Must be my memories from the last time I played tricking me. Thanks for the info, sir. :)
