i would like to suggest the ability to customise engine size within a certain range for each tonnage mech eg. 20 tons have a certain engine ratinge the can use max and minum and 25 tonnage is another range that way it will not be possible to have a heavy mech almost as fast as some light mechs but faster than the standard unodified version of that mech or slower that way it will be possible to suprise people with the increased ammount of fire power instead or speed.
ofc some will then make a assault class with the smallest engine and more weapons but then they turn slower so it will be easier to just shoot it in the back and also just 1 engine critical will leave it so slow it will be helpless, so i wouldnt fear that build personaly it will just leave that more up to the player;)
ps: this post might be not needed as this may already be in the game but i couldnt find it anywhere

customisation of engine size?

They're probably using the same engine format as other battletech/mechwarrior games. The engines go up to a rating of 400, and your speed is equivalent to your mech's tonnage times its desired movement speed. This results in a 100t mech being capped at 4 movement, and at various other levels the tonnage of the engine also factors in to prevent mechs from getting too powerful an engine \ movement speed from it.

theres a chart in tt rules, engine size and weight
if it can fit you chunk it in and get the spped you get
atlas with a 400 gets 4/6, toppin gout at abt 60kph
20ton light mech with a vlar 300 xl gets abt 15/23 or abt 230kph
we'll see if they let me go that fast lol
