Mech Dota

Here is my idea. IS has armored vehicles, Clans have Elementals. How about we get a mode with two bases (IS and Clans), each spawning either armored vehicles or swarms of elementals, all going in one of the three ways and trying to push the enemy. We could have two set of gates with accessible doors/generators we should have to destroy in order to advance. The ultimate goal could be destruction of the base, barracks or Mech works in the base...
It would be hell of a feat to balance this thing because of dropping and adding vehicles/elementals into the game but you know it would be fun ;-)

tanks and elementals are probably a year off...or game engine might be maxed out
but having two bases with objectives for each side to destroy on one map, sounds interesting...like CW assault. If the map was big enough you would have to split your forces carefully in order to maintain defense and offense. The current problem with assault as it is now is that the map size is so small that it rarely pays to split your forces.

Players want to kill Mechs and Win. CW proves that getting paid to do so is NOT the #1 draw in MWO. Losing attacks pays piss poorly.
So, for now, may be best to just try and add more contract types that change drop weights and Mech numbers allowed and then add modes that have incentives other than Kill/Death with C-Bills as an add on.

OP is not suggesting turning MWO into a MOBA game.

The value in CW doesn't necessarily come from c-bills, its about conquering the map and contributing to your faction, at least for me. If c bills is what motivates you...become mercenary or pug que. Many people who play CW aren't in it for the cbills, we want expanded game play that does involve some RP or at least a benefit to your clan beyond just one battle. That's what makes me think that different modes in CW is good idea... Plus who can argue with more options in a game...? I mean seriously who stands up and says "ahem...I want less options/choice in how I play this game" ?

he's not suggesting "tower defense" only for MWO, as you imply, any more than is all ready in the current CW (read: turrets). And on top of that it could just be one of many modes that could be added to round out the gameplay in addition to skirmish, assault, conquest, PVE etc.

I would like a Recon mode, scout inside an enemy base, and then run back out.
A territory capture mode, kind of like the current "Conquest" mode, where territories are actually far more numerous and your real objective is to capture territory, not kill mechs. This should make for a moving "Front"
A "Raid" mission, where mechs are trying to secure equipment from a base. It would even be better if it was two sided. Think of "Capture the flag" but both sides are trying to take back as much equipment from the central area to their spawn. Again, killing is secondary to teamwork.
Also, an escort mission, but similar to Team Fortress Classic's take on the idea, a player is the VIP - a general or some sort of aristocrat - and the team must escort them through the enemy territory to safety. (Maybe into a landed union-class dropship, even?) A player will be randomly assigned the role, but the enemy team will see what the target mech looks like at the beginning of the match.
