Since the patch I've been having this problem mostly on the mining collective map but infrequently on others as well. Game freezes on the mining collective map in previous patches alt-tab would fix the issue. now when I alt tab the screen remain black MW refuses to close and doesn't release mouse attempting to click on another program such as task manager to close MW bring the blacked out mw screen up. alt tab shows immersive background tab, snapped desktop and network icons as well as MW and whatever else I am running. the only resolution I can do is restart as all other options brings the crashed MW up. is listed as not responding in the preview of task manager. running an ASUS republic of gamers laptop with widows trash (8) on it I-7 2.4ghz 16gb ram 64 bit operating system GeForce gtx 765m.

When MWO hangs again try this:
-hit CRTL+ALT+DEL
-hit ALT+T
-hit "Down Arrow" once
-hit ALT+T again
That should shut down the most recently active programm, wich should be MWO. This requires your taskmanager to have the "Applications"-tab open, not "processes" or any other. You can make sure it does by opening taskmanager once, picking the tab and closing it again.

win 8 doesn't have an applications tab pretty sure its the details tab? still hotkeys don't work either it always makes MW the active program cant click on or interact with any other program other than off the task bar as soon as I try to do anything that requires the program to be the active program on the desktop such as clicking on/hotkeys the crashed an inactive MW becomes the active program. it essentially owns my desktop and takes over the comp and wont close.

Ah well sorry then ... no experience with win 8, missed that in your post.
Are you running MWO with the 64bit client or the 32bit one ?
Apart from that there are only the standard-suggestions I can give:
-Repair tool
-Reinstall
-Update drivers
Also you might want to e-mail support directly, they don't always show their face here. Probably still on holiday break, though.

found a work around for it taking over my comp under options there a selection Always on Top for task manager lets me close MW without restarting the game but couldn't rejoin the match kept sending me to the mechbay.

Yes.. This is a VERY annoying bug that seem to happen often in Mining Collective. Got by it 4-5 times already.
