I've noticed that a lot of players end up discoing at the start of a match, and this leaves them wide open to attack from other players who can see them from afar on radar whenever they're in range. This damages the disconnected player's chances of getting back in before being discovered and dealt a mortal blow before they can actually play their match upon reconnecting.

Requiring that players boot up their own battlemechs at the start of a match, instead of auto-booting the systems would ensure a bit more safety for those players who get disconnected and want to return to the battlefield.

Nope - while a disco may not be their fault, not being in the match should not allow them to remain "invisible" to the enemy. If the enemy can get close enough to detect them, it's too late anyways.

Better to focus the energy of the developers on what is causing the disconnects and fixing it if the problem is on their side.

You're being contrary for the sake of being contrary. give me ONE good reason why this isn't a good idea. and "It takes the focus off "more important stuff" isn't good enough, because they wasted their own time on 3PV, which was pointless and a waste of time and resources.

Id love to push the start button inside the mech rather than a ready button whilst staring at a scoreboard.

Just gimme a timer on one of those many unused cockpit screens instead :P

I have to fully agree that I'd rather see the causes of the disco's be addressed than add some silly fluff mechanic to the game that SHOULD not even be considered as a 'fix' or 'patch' to the problem.

I've disco'd plenty of times and come back to find myself dead or even funnier come back just in time to see the death blow to my mech. Sure it sucks but whoopty do. Quit Match. Choose another mech. Join new match. It's a crappy way to have one's stats effected but nothing matters in personal stats other than Win/Loss record really anyways and the disco's happen rarely enough for me that they are not having an effect on those stats that is noticable.

Don't really see the point, to be honest.
Sure discos pop up on radar but most players know after a very short while where the other team spawns anyway and go there when they see a disconnected player on the scoreboard.

Seems you don't like my FIRST reason - so here's another:

It's not needed.

There are a plethora (means a large or excessive amount of something) of items way more important to have the devs focus on. This isn't a feature that should be focused on.

BTW - 3rd person was forced by IGP. I think we can safely say that now they aren't driving the development, we will more of what's really needed.

I'd recommend you shift this over to Suggestions than Patch Feedback dude... we don't need more useless features that tie up development of more needed features and bug fixes.
