iv started to spectate and see people who seem to be aim botting where they are running backwards and turning with perfect aim on the cockpit on mechs. meaning perfectly smooth aiming directly at the cockpit area.

aim crosshair was also snapping to mechs cockpits...

whats being done about this where can we report them to stop this idiocy.

this is the most important thing to end asap.

There haven't been any high profile aimbots historically, and the nice thing about this game is that aimbotting has very little effect in this game. You are not going to solo 12 players with an aimbot. That said, there are players that can snap to cockpits while moving and turning with relative ease (although the cockpit is rarely the best choice to hit if the other player is decent) so it's hard to make the call as to whether a player is an aimbotter or not.

And you don't actually see what they're shooting at in spectator mode unless the targets they are shooting at aren't moving. It's more reliable to look at paper dolls to determine what they are hitting.

Because of the fact that most of the game is server-side. Aim botting is virtually impossible in this game.

Not true, you can create an aimbot regardless the netcode architecture, this is a common misconception.

Yes you can this is true, but i would expect that with everything server side and the added HSR jiggery an aimbot that is client side would have a hard time being "accurate"

There is a difference between snapping and tracking. When you are playing with the true tools of pc gameplay (aka. KB/mouse ) and not a joystick/gamepad, you will realize that what you do closely resembles an aimbot (i.e. tracking targets). The player himself does not notice this (because its based on instinct), but observing players see a reticle that is always on target (which is btw a disadvantage...torso twist anyone?)
Usually there is also another scenario (that has happened to me). when i'm in my ice ferret i usually make use of the quick torso twist to spread damage... and use a quick shooting window to hit a target. I've been accused ingame of using an aimbot just because my view is shaking like crazy (crazy torso twist) but when i shoot, i'm dead center on target.

Hmmmm.... I don't about you... But the person mentioned does ring a bell.
Would have liked to see the game play video from his cockpit screen.

It the past when I was a CS server admin. It was easy to spot aimbot and wallhacks simply because they do things unnaturally.

ive seen some suspect happenings myself here and there, but generally chalk it up to pure luck. if your gonna name and shame something as serious as this you best have some exceptional proof, and probably video proof would be the only exceptable thing regarding this

I get a chance to finally agree with a Wolf :)

There is a lot of false accusations of 'cheating' going around lately. Not sure if this is just some kind of 'seasonal' thing like the flu or what.

@OP 'Snapping back and forth from a target', 'jumping and spinning around to shoot the cockpit', etc... first thing that comes to mind is you are watching a good light mech pilot. Watch them more. Take video's of them and watch it even more.

I got accused of aim botting because I got a headshot once. The guy stood there, looking at my double Gauss+energy mech, for a solid 10 seconds, and didn't expect to get headshot. Funny thing is, I wasn't aiming for his head. Just in his general direction, and my alpha strike took the cockpit out.

that one thing but when it happens two and a row and your moving, that calls for odds not, Lucky shot and dumbness on the pilot you {LT-MOB-25} pitted but get double or trip head shots in a game is odd/

You people have not bothered to look there are numerous people who sell products specifically for Free2play games such as this. If you think people don't cheat in this you are just ignorant as you are stupid. Its easier to cover up the window and believe that that giant 100 foot wave of water isn't there. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Wrong. Cheats for this game exist. If you want to believe they don't, that's fine. But there are several sites that sell Aimbots specifically for this game. Get used to it. There are aimbotters who cheat at this game. So Piranha Games. Do something about it.

Lets not forget those using a mech they excel in and the much overlooked mouse sensitivity in settings.
Each new mech I get I tweak my mouse sensitivity, (ok only sometimes, usually between weight classes :P ), but that in itself can make a huge difference to my accuracy.

For a cheater he is too bad. On the other side his unit banned him because of it. Maybe they had a proof, no idea.

Things like that lend more credence to whether or not the player was cheating.

I am more of the opinion that it is not their lasers which do more damage, but that the server has difficulties registering full damage with lasers and so, when it registers fully, the effect is quite noticeable.
