triply so vs clan mechs. Awful.

Yes it is a poor design and you can even snipe the Gen 1 & 3 without dropping the gates... stormcrow push takes it out in 1 or 2 waves max.

The problem is most groups clump between the gates & nobody wants to shift rewards. Push in 6-10 fast mechs somewhat strung out, then have the last couple linger by the gate. Not a single person will react & move to the back. Even a small mobile lance placed in their way stops the push dead. Even if they do get the o-gens, omega is easy to defend. Keep your forces around omega & only poke the attackers with 1-2 fast mechs.

ITS LIKE DIFFERENT MAPS REQUIRE DIFFERENT TACTICS!?!?!?

You only need one tactic. ALL LRMs. If my team can't get locks for my AMAZING LRM support then they were going to lose anyway. LRMS FOR DAZE SCRUBS.

Oh look, another whine thread by somebody who probably just lost a match somewhat badly...

I've had only 1 loss while defending on the new map, and I've defended there at least 10 times now. That loss came during the event where it was me and 11 other solos, of which 5 of them did less than 500dmg the whole match.

Don't blame the map.

Actually, the only complaint I have on this map is the damn indestructible trees at cockpit height... I mean, am I the only one who is seriously annoyed when my entire screen is obscured by 8-bit trees at random times in a fire fight while moving around?

The fricken trees are the worst aspect of the map - they serve zero valid purpose other than add to the annoyance factor - and that is not good gaming - it just burns out the players faster. PGI map design seems to be obsessed with blocking the vision of the players - that, and obstructing the battlefield with lots of stupid ground obstacles that frack with your feet.

Get off it already.

Other than that I actually like the map, it is perhaps my favorite map in the game. Lots of good fights inside and outside of the base.

But the current trees simply have to go.

PGI needs better trees.

Save the trees.

What's not to like? New map comes with new cockpit items: trees.

I could almost deal with the trees (actually good for hiding it and all), but 75%+ of the map is entirely wasted space only used for walking to the gate.

Same issue with all these CW maps, but this one is by far the worst offender, really what is the point of putting all that time into designing a map when the majority of it is a useless time sink?

I've fought a few battles outside the gates, I can assure you that the map outside of the base is not wasted space. If your team pushes out and takes the fight to the attackers it can be a lot of fun. The design of the base, and the areas just outside the base... Horrible. Objectives should not be accessible from outside the gates. That's bad map design.

It is pretty much the only map that activly enforces defenders to go out and fight outside. I kinda like it.

If you try to fight inside the map offers a third o-gen that is very easy to defend, if you have a well coordinated team with some patience.

Somehow I think this map is a valid test subject, since it has a different approach to how the base is set up, with the short pathways from each objective to the other and the great fighting ground on the attacker side of the gates.

The only thing I am missing is a way out while the gates are closed....I would love to have that.

During Tuk. I didn't win one Emerald defense. Every clan team, even random PUGs sat outside the gates where we couldn't see them and sniped the gens. We just had to sit there and wait for the rush and brawl at gen 2. Clans just took bomber builds and suicide ran at gen 2. didn't even take the whole company, 4 did it, then the other 8 would rush and bomb Omega. We couldn't drop them fast enough. Finall something for the UAC20s to do. Sit 200m from Omega and double tap. 2 Dire Wolves can do it.

Its nuts that gen 1 and 3 can be sniped from outside.

Try picking one Gen to defend and focus on defending it instead of trying to defend all 3. The map is too big and has too many obstructions to try to defend all 3 of the Gens.

Weird. I think I have lost once on this map ... maybe. First you are flipping IS for the love of god. You have been granted the gift of UBER FS9-S / Spider 5D ... Raven H ... use them my son use them well. Attack fiercely. Jump over the gate with your wave of lights and immediately wreck Charley lance which is gosh darn easy to do. Then role up on the clanners from the flank while they eagerly go after that first Gen by Alpha gate. Leg ye Stormcrow and leg ye Timberwolf. Right CT ye Direwhale and laugh with the laughter of trollz at the ineffective LURM boaters screaming for help and targets all in the same sentence.

Well the first map, Boreal, is awful to assault. So I guess CW is balanced now? We can get buggered assaulting Boreal, or we can get buggered defending Emerald.
