Greetings, gents.

Recently (for the past month) I've have high ping than usual (~110ms) which is probably due to me being in Texas and the data center being moved to Canada. However, something strange is happening: at some point after a match or two, my ping skyrockets to 350-400 ms.

Now, I don't get this problem in any other online game, be it Counterstrike: Global Offensive, World of Warcraft, War Thunder, Warframe, etc etc. It's only in MWO do I have this issue. I use Netlimiter 3 to monitor and limit my network usage on certain programs (MWO is unaffected by this), but my network shows hardly any usage aside from MWO itself when this occurs. This leads me to believe it's either my ISP or PGI's data centers, but then again the problem could be staring at me right in the face.

Does anyone else have this issue, and is there a workaround? I'm located in Dallas and my ISP is Time Warner Cable. Any help would be appreciated!

Here is a screenshot of what my ping is when this happens (I've played since closed beta and never encountered this until the past month or so):

Try sitting on 300 ms to 350 ms each game, every time.

1st world problems hey.

I'm seeing the same thing in NW Oregon on Frontier FIOS Fiber.

I was just coping with have 120ms give or take since the servers were in Canada, but the last few weeks to a month or so the ping has gone to heck in a handbasket. Random fluctuations all through games from 100 to 400 with spikes up to the 1000s.

The game is borderline unplayable most of the evening. I'm getting wacko hit reg that barely works even with HSR.

I've checked a bunch of other online games, pinged all sorts of servers during these problems and all are fine except MWO.

I'm pretty convinced it's 100% their servers.

Not shure who they are paying for hosting, but it's really, really bad.

I mean, it was not great before but easily playable, but now it's just almost unplayable. Will have to give this up for a while if it stays like this.

More details: City, ISP, wired or wireless, network card, router, modem details.

On router/modem/gateway, have you checked the software firewall, setup either port trigger or disabled it? It can be called several things, such as security/firewall/SPI -stateful packet inspection / Dynamic Packet filtering/etc.

Amarillo, TX, Suddenlink Cable, wired, Linksys Cisco EA3500, Surfboard SB6141

Ping is around 85-110ms.

Use something like PingPlotter to see where the redlights may be residing. It is not like it is a straight shot from your ISP to their ISP/servers. When it is their host/server issue 99% of the player base will be affected, not just a few.

Just wanted to chime in here...

I've been on MWO for over 2 years. My in-game ping has always been about 40-100.

Since I came back from X-mas break, My ping is now like 300-400. I went over 600 yesterday. Can definitely feel it when you shoot weapons or zoom in, TAB target, etc...

I'm in Texas too.

It would be great if we can get some insight into this.

You need to see this thread here. It's basically a Time Warner issue. I have the same problem in Texas.
