If a game is well made and polished we as a gaming community shouldnt all condemn it because it didnt follow the source material.
To be fair though, this is what got me into mechwarrior. I never would have found mechwarrior living legends and gotten into the mechwarrior universe with out it.
Too many bitter people getting offended when some one doesnt follow a old book to the letter.

2 especially.
And I'd already played MW2, 3, 4, MA1, 2. (Can't remember if Megamek yet by then)
Yes it was a silly game, but it was a fun game.
And honestly, I really like the idea of being able to get out of the mech.
I'd legitimately like to see it in MWO.
The ability to eject and walk around.
Give em a semi-auto pistol with say, 20 rounds that do 0.01 damage for a giggle.
Would give an amazing sense of scale.
Not going to happen, nor probably should it at the end of the day due to the work needed, but it'd look great.
Actually have an original Xbox set up on a 13" TV next to my computer that I've been playing MA2 on again lately.

The first time I met that Blake Ragnarok, it was scary as all hell, it got freaking LAVA guns for madness sake! As I remember you had to take out.. 4 other mechs with your single one, before you could take it down, arena style!

It would be a gift from the developer gods and godesses indeed!
Imagine escaping from your nearly destroyed Jagermech thanks to an Hellbringer while, running adrenaline filled through a forest (with collision an being destructible) to find some cover for planning on payback. Escaping by calling a dropship or something.

I tried mechassault and played mechassault 2 a lot.
They are good titles and excelent spin-offs with a quality that other franchises would wish to have.
Sorry but.... no.

it would be so cool to take it in mwo, not in 3050 what a shame.

Using the BT IP for that game was an insult to any fan of the franchise IMO, and I dare theoorize one of the nails in the mech-genre coffin that PGI managed to pry open for MWO.

Fun fact:
PGI took the idea for the "River City" map from Mechassaults 1 and 2 (which featured River City and New River City). PGI of course changed the specific design, but the overall idea of two cities separated by water, and the name "River City," was taken straight from Mechassault. MA2's version was also at night time, which might have inspired River City Night in MWO.
They might have also taken the name of the Conquest mode from MA2, but MA2's version of Conquest was more like its own version of CW rather than just capturing oil rigs like MWO's.

They are not what I am looking for in a "Battletech" lore based game.
Thus, I "Hate" MechAssault as a series, for screwing up Battletech Lore and holding back Mechwarrior 5 [because Microsoft saw more money in the MA franchise than in MW]
So there are reasons for the dislike. I hope you understand that had Mech Assault continued to be profitable, we'd probably still be waiting for a new mechwarrior.
