Why? It's a highly advantageous map for defenders -- which a defensive position is supposed to be.

The only issue I have with that gate is the straight firing line from the base to attacker drop points. But then again that's a defender's advantage -- the terrain was probably "selected" precisely for that purpose. So I'm not going to argue against it.

That straight line advantage can be negated by how the attacker opens gates. Once on a PUG, I suggested leaving one gate closed until we absolutely needed it, reason is on the attack you move up the closed gate's lane to D4/E4 then use that pass to cross over to the open gate. Unless the Defenders come out, range advantage gone.

...I just want to understand the OP...your saying this map is broken because one of the slowest moving mechs in the game was able to get from its drop location to Alpha gate, up and over the gate, and then moved towards your teams drop location and slaughtered you there? I think you might need to re-title the OP...

Boreal is a joke, and Sulfurous is barely any better.

Remember Terra Therma before the spawn points were moved?

Remember how it was nothing but a mindless rush to the center, with the first team there usually winning if they had a clue and formed kill-zones at the door?

Remember how much we all hated that level of dull, repetitive gameplay?

So why is it well over a year later we now have a game mode DEVOTED to this type of gameplay? Rushing the same kill zones, enemies always ending up in the exact same location each game, huge advantages granted to one side, and so on.

It's a crying shame, really... CW was supposed to involve role warfare, more complex missions, etc. Instead, we have "charge the PUG-zapper!" over and over again, but with respawns in an invasion scenario that even the most rookie general wouldn't attack. Ugh...

Hm, playstyle on Terra Therma has changed? When did that happen? All I see is: rush the ring and kill them. Very rarely someone suggests "don't go center, flank them"...and no one cares...

Direwolf going over gate without a gate being taken down.
Screenshots/video or its a lie.

If that was a Lords group.. Getting crushed like that isn't surprising though.

I saw this for the first time two nights ago, and tested it myself on a turrets-only game.

On Boreal you can go right over the Beta gate. On Sulfurus, it's Gamma. With an assault. Without jumpjets.

Edit: I misread the OP. I'm referring to clans ATTACKING in this manner. Still amusing.

A lot of people probably did not believe me when I said the Clans would jump the gate and proceed to kill all the IS Mechs

yes.. those dirty clans and their fragile armored, hot running mechs where the ones that DO have good enough JJs have to limit their fire power even MORE to do so ..

I mean its not like the IS has several jump jet mechs... oh wait..

I have 3 TWs' that can ruin your day a Dakka Wolf, Streak Wolf, and a Wub Wolf
I was just making a statement of fact
I can hop any gate with my Raven-huginn one time out of frustration about my team not being able to open the Boreal right side Gate I hoped the gate and opened it from the inside (it cost me a Mech when I do that since the Huggin can’t get away)

before they nerfed the IS lights legs I could get to the generators and did it almost every match but I would either get shot in the back or not have enough fire power to take down a generator

So there are two sides to every coin so to speak
