Yes, and I repeat. I never see clans get over 1500 damage.

If left unchecked with high mounted hardpoints, you can do it pretty easily.

1400 damage in a single PPC Mist Lynx, and also a 2400 'Crow (which is over twice as hot as the above build, with more heatsinks, and 50% waste damage)

With similarly high mounted, though slightly superior, hardpoints the ThunderBold could easily achieve it, especially being half as hot.

2000+ damage on 2 people on an IS mech?
Never seen anything like that on a clan mech... I rarely see over 1500 damage, even with the lords...

Nothing wrong with Thunderbolts and all the other IS mechs .. keep them as they are please. Clans are way OP and please do something!

I a going to play IS now so please do the above! Yes I have had enough of playing virtually useless clan mechs so will be going over to IS as soon as my contract ends... not that it's worth playing CW because of the wait time , but I need to get a deck for IS together anyway so plenty of time for that!

One thing that is always funny when comparing a Thunderbolt to a Timberwolf is that people forget (maybe on purpose) that there is a 10 Ton difference in weight!

The above two sentences are not compatible, I have achieved 3000+ myself and I am average.

They are often effective in CW and spread the damage accross each LORD team mate.

It's 4800 damage to kill 48 mechs that have 100 points of armour in the CT
if it's a 4 man lance, that's 1200 damage each... assume all enemy mechs are 100 tonners -ish
Which isn't the case.

So this puts the effective damage based on effective kills then wasted damage being around 800 to 1300 damage.

3000+ damage would only occur if someone is doing a lot of supporting or carrying...

I never seen lord in a 4 man group or less. I often only see them do a range between 1400 to 1700 damage.

This could be the fact you are an inner sphere pilot and these are clans.
But another thing is that Clanners are often the attackers, and attacking is rarely ever won by killing all 48 mechs, it's often rushing the base.

sadly there is no mech with high mounted hardpoints for the clans besides the Adders flamer, the Kitfoxes torso ballistics, the timberwolf, hellbringer, summoner, mad dog, and direwolf missile.

Kinda surprised you mentioned the mist lynx as a high weapon mounted mech...
Firemoth I would understand but not the mist lynx...

I didn't mention the Lynx had high mounts, The Crow torso mounts, while not exceedingly high, are the closest the Clans get.

Is this the reason the stormcrow is popular? 2 E hardpoints equal to the cockpit level with half the Torso above the cockpit?

alrighty then...

Yep, clans dont have a single Mech with hardpoints as well distributed as Jagers or Thunderbolts.

Fast, good hitboxes, more weapon tonnage than some heavies and even assaults.

It's pretty optimal, even if a tad overengined, not terribly. Only a handful of things to fix, rather than the dozens of things on other Clam mechs.

You guys are forgetting the Hell Bringer.

Aside from the head being the highest mounted on any clan mech, the entire Prime Left torso 3E mounts are very well placed - generally if you can see it, you can hit it.

The RT Ballistic is also similarly as high.

The Nova also has one decent E mount in one of the RTs & the Summoner has very good torso mounts - unfortunately none of them are energy.

After that, a bit of honorable mention to the Adder's torso mounts - which are also well placed.

Another clan QQ post...........what a surprise.

9S is fine, sorry you haven't figured out how to beat it with your superior clan mechs yet but if you keep practicing I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Until then, enjoy your easy mode wins using your fleets of Timbercrutches and laservomit Crows backed by ECM heavies that the IS can only dream of owning.

Nova's barely higher than the arms. About a PPCs width.

Not the most significant, and since only one of those is in game, a single PPC generally isn't worth it.

The Hellbringer is high comparatively, but due to the triangle mounting and head only having 1 slot, it's not as good as some.
It gets a point, I suppose.

Badder I can't comment on.

Oh look, another IS player defending their IS Crutch mechs with ERPPCs with almost as much heat as ER Medium Lasers.

(Funny, it works both ways. 50% quirks are pretty damned big)

Problem is theses mech don't have PPC quircks. Not the same speed nor the same heat reduction.
Placing a PPC in a Hellbringer is asking to shut down.

It's R.Razor, a guy who don't own any clan mech and think he is an encyclopedia. His judgement and his credibility are in the negative.

And the Timberwolf bests 'Mechs that have 15+ tons on it.

I'm not saying the TDRR-9S isn't too powerful, but I am telling you to pick your points of contention a little more carefully because that one is weak.

IF the 9S is SUPPOSED to be the down range shooter...

IF IS mechs are supposed to be super niche in contrast to Clan generalists...

IF the Thud 5SS/9SE are the respective short/mid brawlers...

CUT the cooldown buff for the ERPPC, limit them to only being able to fire in pairs, like the nerf to triple-Gauss.
ERPPC cooldown of @4 seconds should keep them happy at range but that slow rate would hamper them in a brawl.
This would encourage the use of backup weapons instead of boating 3+ ERPPC perhaps?

Does anybody actually alpha with three ER-PPCs? I always see them fired in 2+1 to just pound away at the target, even the TDR-9S can only alpha twice with three.

I still think the best mechanic for PPCs would be to add a brief no-aborts charge before the shot flies. Make people think twice before they commit to firing a round.
