^Where is the cockpit on that Archangel? Right above the big ass gun in the CT? Looks like it has terrible FoV.

Bottom line is the line holders wanted to redo the B tech universe to be a dark place of limited technology but still full of stompy robots (and in part to cash in on the click base craze of the time) so they made up a splinter faction that somehow gathers enough strength to do what the combined powers of the Great Houses and the Clans could not. Take over the Inner Sphere.

WoB never made logical sense.

Kind of sounds like Warhammer 40k when you put it like that.

I got the feeling there was a fairly sizable block of the fan base that found the whole WoB thing really unbelievable, and I would be in that group. It was like something from a Saturday morning cartoon.

Anyway it's interesting to note, for the un-initiated, that the Dark Age was a contentious subject among the fan base. But then again, there are people who refuse to play anything with old tech level 2, meaning XL engines and double heat sinks. 3039 for the win, I suppose.

Nope, the WoB splintered off long before WizKids got hold of the property. Unfortunately, WizKids's Dark Age stuff was just too close in the timeline to things that were already established as going on. IIRC, the Annihilation of the Jaguars and Great Refusal was done, and the FedCom Civil War just starting. Suddenly, WixKids jumps ahead, and those trying to work with the original timeline need to squeeze in the finish of the Civil War, collapse of the 2nd Star League, Jihad, foundation of the Republic of the Sphere, etc. into a very small number of years.

If it were up to me, the Jihad would still have happened, but been later, and triggered not by the dissolution of the League, but by a Warden clan (Bears or Nova Cats) petitioning (or being granted) membership.

Above and slightly behind. There's a dark spot a little behind the Opacus Venatori emblem.

EDIT: Do a Google Image Search for "archangel mech" and you'll find illustrations and pictures of miniatures that make the cockpit's location much more clear.

Gundams? No, those look nothing like Gundams at all. They do rather look like some of more interesting bad guy Mobile Suits from Zeta Gundam and ZZ Gundam, though.

* hint, Gundams are a very, very particular subset of giant robots from the Gundam metaseries, as in usually only one to a very small handful per series. G Gundam is a very...notable...exception.

While it's true that the WoB existed before the Dark Age, he raised some good points, or at least shared the idea that some people find the DA unbelievable.

And as archaic and limited as the pre AOD Wizkids mechs and game looked and felt, I always thought dark ages was like 3025 and earlier lol.....like real old.

Wizkids pieces I felt were only starting to really become good in their last few sets before they died. The earlier pieces in Wizkids clix always seemed to melt so fast. Just a point or 2 of that 18 click dial and the mech goes from oh-lala to wtf you total pos....most notable piece that suffers that is the "Seka's Pride" Vulture. Initially can have near 25 defense, 5ap damage, good speed, good attack, just an all in all amazing mech. 3 points later its little more then a pile of scrap.
