As for how I would change around that build:

Its far to slow, at least an XL250 to not require any external DHS. I would go futher and do something around a XL300 for 80.4kph after tweak.

Two tons of ammo for 2xUAC5s is far to low. I would take around 2.5 tons of ammo per cannon, so for this build something like 5-6 tons depending on how much ammo you tend to go through in a match.

The AMS is not really necessary these days, enough use of cover can make LRMs a non-threat.

The combinations of medium pulse and large are not the best, they have far to different range profiles. I would focus on one or the other, either 2xLarge Laser or 4xMedium Pulse.

^ poster above said it haha. Srsly, Paul's build sucks donkey balls.

I was using a 280XL with a Large Laser in each arm and 2x UAC5 in the torso with about 5 tons of ammo for the longest time. Upgraded the engine to a 300XL but downgraded to AC5s when the UAC5 got a nerf some point in the past.

Used the mech quite effectively even against Clan Wave 1. It pretty much single-handedly funded my purchase of a trio of Victors plus some Wave 1 mechs.
Stopped using it at some point due to obsolescence but have never sold it due to sentimental reasons as it was the first mech I played that I was actually good in. Was mediocre in Trebs and the other Cat variants before that.

That paul build is so bad even a stock K2 with no skills or upgrades would be better. Explains the A1's problems too. As for the C1 use some of the other builds posted here.

I doubt that K2 build could even track a target properly, honestly. Without any lower arm actuators, that K2 can only use torso yaw to track targets. Good luck hitting something moving across your field of vision with only 69 degrees/sec torso twist and 39deg/s pivot...

The weapon loadout is arguable but not the XL225 in a K2, even more now with the new hitboxes.

Sand I like you but I really have to disagree. Granted I am no Paul fan, but a spade is a spade here. With that build, just about any light mech would tear them up. Any mech for that reason would tear it up. Has no speed and really no DPS>

Are you being sarcastic and I am missing it?

And you sir are in charge of balancing?.... when building these kind of mechs?

3 different weapon types
AMS
Not full amount of true dubs
XL and slow
Catapult
Bad quirked mech
I cannot imagine you have fun with this build. "Griefer Mk3" should be "Self-inflicted pain Mk3" because i guess there were even worse builds than that.

k...fair enough. So now let us now how OFTEN did you play this build, not since WHEN. Because if you have played this build since open Beta more then three times you should have recognized that 2 tons of ammo in 2 UAC5 least for ...um...lets say....30 secs in an infight?? Not to mention that going 60 kph on the battlefield is a death sentence in that XL build...

It's unnecessarily slow, lacks ammo, the weapons don't compliment each other, the rear armor values are too high, AMS has been wasted tonnage for a long time and it's surprisingly hot. While any one of these mistakes would be passable, or perhaps even attributed to 'taste', as a package it's bloody terrible. Even in 2012 this would have been a bad build, though for slightly different reasons.

Honestly though, I'm glad you've opened up your build to public scrutiny. Proper builds are crucial for evaluating balance and I think it'd be great for you to learn how to do that. I'd love for you to start a dialogue about this and to show us iterations on your build as you improve.

wut? Only 2 tons of uac5 ammo for 2x uac5 (in the ct), an xl225, to go crazy slow and sacrifice a 2.0dhs.... The list goes on :(

No... The weapon choice isn't bad, though not ideal its OK. The problem is the slow speed and lack of twist due to the really small engine... That's also an XL.

That, and 20t of weaponry that cap out at an absolute maximum of, what, 300 damage due ridiculously low ammo count.

No doubt, but it definitely needs an overhaul to be brought into the modern age. Here is how I would adjust his build while maintaining the theme.

Main adjustments:
1. Replace LL and MPL with just medium lasers to better streamline the build and free up tonnage.
2. Doubled ammo count of UAC. It might still not be enough. You could sub out that DHS for an extra ton of ammo if you wish.
3. With the extra space, I can fit Ferro Fibrous, which gives me tonnage to fit in a nicely sized standard engine.

Modules I would go for would be:
Seismic on mech slot, Radar Deprivation on Hybrid slot, Medium laser Range module, and UAC/5 Cooldown on weapon slots.

It's incredibly slow, uses an XL engine on top of that (at least being a Cat it'll likely lose the CT first), is grossly underammoed, and basically ignores anything resembling efficient. The benefit the UAC/5's give is lost rapidly between almost no ammo endurance (meaning 18T of dead weight in no time) and having to sit there painting your target with the large lasers.

And is probably one reason you end up an easy target. Slow + big name = hello, free fast kill.

You could do better. Much, much better. I'd have expected the design head to have at least tweaked it SOMETIME since open beta. :(
