After reading many posts about CW and all the hundreds of opinions it seems to me the answer as many others have said is VOIP...

Communication is required for that kind of game. That's all.
Its Required to really play as a team in real time.

But what ever... I expect the trash talkers to try and deny, and say it wont help...
I bet the guys trashing it use Team Speak and they don't want the competition.

There is no Community without Communication.

Till we get it I will mostly stay in the other non CW games.

No my friend VOIP is good we have C3 it was a flop no one uses it.The real answer was given by me 3 years ago for what MWO really needs but PGI/DEVS are fools and will not listen to reason.

I proposed a new MSN GAMMING ZONE for MWO with a similar MM system likeMechWarrior4 had and similar game modes and up to 50 maps where players could drop with friends in 1v1-12 matches of there choose at no cost to the players. This would have been a community builder but no PGI has this narrow vision of a WOT/COD clone model for MWO and it stinks.

TEN at MWO LOBBY built anew MSN GAMMING ZONE CLONE but you could not drop in games like the older PC games did so it fails to draw players to it sad he did a fantastic job building it.MWO is going to die a slow painful death because the devs are well stupid.

"players could drop with friends in 1v1-12 matches of there choose"

What you say sounds logical. That kind of flexibility would be great.
I still hope it or the like can be done here.
I hope the great MechWarrior franchise has not fallen into the wrong hands.

...Been playing since the first Mechwarrior PC Game.

Ingame VOIP will be a flop, because, I know this from other games, no one will use it.

More important would be the introduction of chat channels in different languages to look for people for forming groups, join units, etc.

Even more comfortable could be a LFG system where you can pick available player/groups from a list by customizable tags/keywords.

xeNon isn't some corporate shill just because he disagrees with you, crackpot.

As a matter of fact, he's right. Yes, we know how much fun it is to do all that you mentioned.

We also know (from experience in previous games in my case, and I suspect also for xenon) that few people will use an in game VOIP.

listening to a bunch of wannabe commanders screaming stupid commands at you? no thx, don't need that. Seriously - there are a lot of imature people out there. Just watch the chat in a pug an think about a 12 year old beeing able to yell such nonsense at you all the time (the good thing about the chat is that it costs people time to type their nonsense)

ever tried CW as a pug? either you have no plan at all or you have multiple people who think their plan is the best and writing their commands in the chat. The real problem here is 1. have someone taking command who REALLY KNOWS WHAT TO DO! and 2. have people who are willing to follow such a plan while still using their brain and 3. have no wannabe commanders typing nonsense in the chat all the time.

You know that kind of situation - someone say "lets attack Alpha first" and some people agree and than some other guys comes up "lets attack Beta instead" - and half of the team don't know what to do ...

have a pug really working together in a pug has nothing to do with communication - its about people using their brain, look at the map every now and then, don't shot each other, don't get scared away by 2 scretches in their paint and beeing willing to take damage if that is what is required for success.

The game has VOIP it's called C3 it's worthless and has been since day one.

I will say this, I agree that an in-game VOIP while it would be nice would be a waste on the devs resources as it will go largely unused. Example WoT has a built in VOIP that in my experience is never used Platoons that run together use a third party VOIP such as Teamspeak, Ventrilo, Mumble, or Raidcall (all are free to use, Raidcall is free to host large groups as well, Ventrilo and if memory serves Teamspeak allow you to host an 8-man group for free) and this is how many groups organize. What I would like however in terms of in-game communication is Faction and Allied Faction chats for when out of battle as well as being able to drop in non-unit groups for CW (Faction obviously being ex. Jade Falcon Chat, or House Davion Chat where Allied Faction chat would be ex. Clan Chat or Inner Sphere chat) This I feel could greatly improve the quality of battles as well as allow for better organized attacks and defenses. A few other ideas include having units listed in an in-game list or a Unit specialized website making it easier for those without units to find a unit and listing whether they are Faction Permanents or not in-case someone wants to join a Unit but wants to stay with a certain faction always.

The AVERAGE player, will NOT utilize ingame VOIP.

Time and again, in even TEAM games, Team VOIP is met with nothing but screaming 9 year olds, people who can't sing, or someone blairing porn.

Why do you want to subject yourself to that, when you have a perfectly viable 3rd party system that takes literally, 5 minutes MAX, to set up and use effectively? TS3 is NOT that hard to use, neither are Mumble, or Ventrillo, or any number of other 3rd party VOIP solutions.

Why do you keep looking to PGI to implement something, when you have the solution already? Why do you want a SUB PAR VOIP solution built into the game, when you can download tons of FREE software that offers better than what PGI would ever implement?!

Why do you people rally against 3rd party VOIP software so much? I just don't get it... my brain is literally full of **** from this argument time and again, with no actual answers as to why you're not willing to put the 5 minutes in to get one of these programs up and running.

free server is limited to 8 users......
unless you hack it,.
and you(or someone) must host it

IDK what game you guys are playing(guessing COD) but in Counter-strike(any version) more then 90% of the player use the steam voip.

and CS is the most successful FPS E-sport.
that just one example.

but the reason PGI will give us will probably be , "it is going to cost us to much bandwidth and we gonna have to charge you some money(premium time) to activate it".

Thank you for confirming what I said, I couldn't remember perfectly if the free server was 8 or more but went with 8 in my last post.

The game needs universal integrated Voip. C3 is neither.
